Advantages: light, non-greasy cream, cheap, softens extremely well

Disadvantages: due to size may run out quickly if used on the body

I am a lot like my mum in that when it comes to shopping we both normally buy big economical purchases: big multiple packs of crisps rather than single, large family sized tins of beans and the items that say 'now 25% extra free.' The same could be said with beauty products, hence the reason why I would normally rush into boots or my nearest beauty store, locate the biggest (and preferably cheapest) tub of all-purpose moisturising cream, whinge silently about how it should be slightly cheaper, buy it and rush back out. However, recently I decided not to focus too much on the price and try something a little different which might work slightly better.

So, during my most recent shopping spree of body/face/soul enhancing products I chanced across the Nivea Intensive moisturizing cream crying out to me on the shelves of my local Boots store. Admittedly, the first thing which caught my attention was the price: at £1.73 this little 75ml tube minx seemed like a bit of a bargain. However, I was also attracted by the clean look of the product. It is a white tube with minimal text which states:

FRONT
The brand: Nivea Soft
The name: Intensive Moisturising Cream...for invigorated, smooth skin
key ingredients: Jojobo oil & vitamin E

BACK
Description: Nivea soft is a highly effective moisturising cream for everyday use on your face, body and hands. Enjoy a fresh moisture boost as the light yet intensive moisturising formula with jojoba oil and Vitamin E quickly absorbs into your skin, leaving it feeling sensationally soft, supple and invigorated

Slogan: Nivea Soft- Enjoy the feeling
Skin compatability dermatologically tested

VERDICT
I can safely say, after just the first application of the cream that it definitely lives up to its promises. I was incredibly impressed with the consistency of the cream: It's light and non-greasy meaning that you don't feel like you need to apply that much on your body.

Secondly, the feeling was as luxuriant as cited on the product. I have previously bought products which contain the fab ingredient jojobo oil and honestly I think that's the one thing which makes all the difference. You can literally feel the cream actually being absorbed into the skin rather than just sitting there and making it look all greasy and shiny. And most importantly, it FEELS like it's actually working magic.

Thirdly, the actual tube is designed incredibly well: It's small enough to fit into your handbag and to carry around for day-to-day application and it's a lot easier to apply because you're not having to scoop out or finger out cream from a massive tub which is destined to become in-laid with hairs and dirt and other nasty little things.

Things to be aware of:
1.
The front of the product does state: 'for face, body and hands' yet I would beg to differ slightly and would say that it would be worth forking out a little bit extra on a larger 200ml tub of cream (£4.09, Boots) if you tend to use a lot of cream all around the body as otherwise you will use up the cream fairly quickly. (If you have a Boots card though you'll get extra points on a bigger purchase anyway!). I only use this tube for quick applications on my face and hands and its also handy to carry around in your bag.

2. I have actually been in various other hair-product shops and seen 'spin-offs' which look like the nivea cream but don't contain the coveted jojoba oil & vitamin E. I haven't actually seen the tube item but I have seen what looks like the larger 200ml tub item. They are cheaper but don't be fooled- they won't work as well!

THE CENTRE OF THE JAFFA CAKE/CRUX OF THE MATTER:
This moisturiser works fantastically, makes the skin smooth and soft, applies easily, and is small enough to carry around all day....Would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a cheapish but good value moisturiser for the face/hands/feet. Great item!

Summary: Great buy! especially if you only use small amounts of moisturiser at a time!!
