Advantages: softens and moisturises skin really well, very cheap

Disadvantages: no UV filters, not a particularly nice smell

I tend to use a tinted moisturiser during the day, ideally one with a UV filter, but as neither of those things are particularly necessary when lying in bed at night, I needed to find something to slap on my face after washing at bedtime!

My mum has been using Nivea Soft Moisturising Creme for ages, and is always raving on about how good it is (she won't use any other moisturiser now), so I decided to give it a go as my 'night time' moisturiser.

This moisturising creme is very readily available - all the usual places such as Boots, Superdrug, local chemists and major Supermarkets stock it, and you'll quite oftern find it on offer at one of these places. Having said that, it's ridiculously cheap even at full price!

Bearing the price in mind, I wasn't expecting too much from this moisturiser, but I admit I was pleasantly surprised. It's by no means a luxury product, it doesn't have much of a scent (which is actually fine by me!) and there are no 'frills' such as magic anti-ageing ingredients (although it does contain Jojoba and Vitamin E), but it does a very good job of moisturising and softening the skin which, to be fair, is what it's intended to do.

I've actually started to use this as a hand cream too, as it's nice and rich but easily absorbed.

I think if I were to use this every day as my 'usual' moisturiser, I might find it got a bit greasy after a while, but I'm happy to slap it on at night to quench my face while I'm sleeping, and it works better as a hand cream than most of the proper hand creams do.

Definitely worth a try, particularly if you don't have much cash.

Summary: A good basic moisturiser which is fantastic value for money
