Advantages: Smell nice, no alcohol, soft skin
Disadvantages: Dry out quickly despite resealing pack, not good on stubborn mascara
I bought a packet of the Nivea Visage Soft Facial Cleansing Wipes for sensitive skin, these are the version in the pink packet and contain no alcohol so I figured they would suit my skin. Usually I use the Boots own brand ones but I was in a rush and spotted these on offer for around the same price so I thought I would give them a go.
Overall they are a bit of a mixed bag in my opinion. The good points are that they smell pleasent and I can definitely tell by the odour of them that they do not contain harsh ingredients such as the alcohol which I know dries out my already dry-prone skin. The smell is vaguely floral, almost like a mild rose scent but not overly strong.
After use I do think they leave my skin quite soft which is nice and there are no dry patches on my cheeks which is a good sign.
They do seem to work at removing most makeup although I seem to find that they do struggle with mascara and it takes a lot of rubbing to get this off, I guess this may be the downside of having no alcohol in them, in fact this past weekend I had to use a second wipe to get off some particularly stubborn mascara and noticed a couple of eyelashes on the wipe by the time I had finished, definitely not a good sign!
My main problem with these wipes though is that they seem to have almost completely dried out despite me dilligently resealing the packet after every use, I think the sticky re-seal tab is just not up to the job and so it lets air in. Every time I pull a wipe out now I notice that it doesnt feel fresh and damp like a wipe should do but dryer and not so fresh. This is probably another reason why I am now needing two wipes to get my mascara off!
Overall I don't think this product is particularly good value for money, I would have been annoyed if I had paid the usual £3.79 price tag for them just for the Nivea brand name. In my opinion the boots own ones (around £1.99) do a much better job and are better packaged, I certainly won't be buying these again once I have run out.
Yes, they do smell nice and they do the job and leave my skin feeling soft but the packaging is not sufficient to keep them fresh and damp and you therefore need to use more to get stubborn make up off which, to my mind, is a false economy.
Summary: There are better wipes out there for less money.
