Advantages: remove your make up
Disadvantages: irritate your skin
Nivea Visage soft facial cleansing wipes were the first make up removal wipes I tried. Being a sort of lazy person when it comes to beauty routines so I thought these would be perfect for me. No more falling asleep with my make up on. The wipes come in a resealable packet that contains 25 wipes. The wipes are quite large and are made of fairly thick material that lasts as you remove all your make-up. The wipes claim to remove make-up, purify and tone in one step. They are apparently suitable for use on your face, neck and eyes and "respect the delicate eye area". They are ophthalmologically tested which reassured me as I wear contact lenses. Unfortunately the wipes did not suit me at all. The first time I used them my skin went very tingly and nipped a little. It wasn't very comfortable and my skin felt very taut. I suffer from very dry skin so I like things that moisturise my skin and don't dry it out. On the back of the packet it says that the wipes have a mild alcohol free formula to prevent the skin drying out. Well if the wipes didn't contain alcohol there was something else in their which dried my skin out. There is a very small warning on the back of the packet stating that although the wipes are dermatologically tested, people with very sensitive skin may suffer some irritation and you should stop using the wipes. I have never considered myself to have very sensitive skin. Dry skin - yes, but very sensitive - no. I have since found another brand of facial cleansing wipes which do a much better job, don't irritate my skin and are a lot cheaper. They are Boots Botanic wipes and I've already written an opinion on them - they are wonderful. Nivea Visage wipes were not suitable at all for my dry skin so if you suffer from the same condition do not use them!

- 28/01/01 I never thought about using baby wipes. They are probably a lot cheaper as well! Next time I run out I might give them a try! |

- 26/01/01 Urgh - itchy & scratchy - you've put me right off ever trying them - have you ever tried using Baby wipes? Something like Johnson & Johnson have extra moisturing stuff in them or Boots cotton feel wipes are probably my favourite. Since having my son - I use baby wipes for everything - they are brilliant! |
