Advantages: Soft and gentle, Smell fresh, Convenient

Disadvantages: Expensive if you use them too often!

It's not often I decide to treat myself to a new product these days as I am being a bit careful now I'm out of work, but I did decide to try these and I have to say I am not disappointed! The product that I have tried is Nivea Soft Facial Cleansing Wipes and they’re so good that I felt an opinion coming on straight away!

I have always used Nivea products of one sort or another ever since mom used to put Nivea cream on my shoulders to stop me burning in the sun when I was a little girl. There wasn’t the range of sun tan creams then that we have now, I am talking about the 1950’s and early 60’s here! Sorry, I’m digressing – back to the subject in question.

Nivea Soft Facial Cleansing Wipes were on special offer at out local Safeways, reduced from over £4 to £2.99 for a pack of 25. As we can use admatch in our local Asda store, so that on production of the relevant advert you can buy Asda shopping at someone else’s prices, I headed over armed with my Safeway leaflet. The first thing I noticed was that Asda’s normal price was only £2.49 – exit Safeways leaflet! I told you that story because it shows that for this type of product it really does pay to shop around.

Anyway I bought myself said cleansing wipes and looked forward to trying them. I accept that this is going to be a more expensive way of cleansing than using my usual Avon Clearskin cleanser, but I figured that these would be ideal for my holidays, providing that I liked them of course! I know that my sister has tried their 3 in 1 wipes and was impressed with them so I guessed that I would be on a safe bet.

The wipes themselves are about six inches square and come folded, in a resealable pack. They are made of a ‘soft fleece with deep cleansing micro-sponges’ and are much thicker than the ordinary cleansing wipes such as ‘Wet Ones’, which was the sort of thing that I was expecting.

The smell is very pleasant and the lotion is alcohol free, it’s about the only time that I think alcohol free is a good thing, but that’s another story! They have also been tested so that they are safe to use around your eyes.

I rarely wear make up during the day, and when I do it’s only a small amount so I can’t comment on the cleansing quality of these wipes if you wear a lot of heavy make up, but I was very impressed.

The wipe was lovely and soft to use, the smell was really nice, the lotion was cooling and my face felt and looked really clean when I had finished.

The writing on the pack states that they ‘remove make up, purify and tone in one step’ and it is definitely true. I could really feel the toner making the skin on my face feel refreshed and glowing. These are definitely going to be so useful to take on holiday.

The only problem is that they are so nice to use in this hot weather we’re having at the moment. I have been using them when I’ve done some gardening or shopping and got really hot and sticky. At this rate I’m going to need another pack before long.
