Advantages: Moisturises facial skin
Disadvantages: Over-priced and no better than other cheaper moisturisers.
I know, some of you may be wondering why this 30 something female is using a moisturiser that is designed for 'young' skin but aren't we always told that age is in the mind!!
To answer any queries, I have used this for the simple reason that I got it for free so why not!!
~ Nivea Visage Young ~
There are a number of bog-standard Nivea Visage products on the market, none of which I have been overly impressed with. Nivea Visage are products that are developed to work in harmony with your facial skin.
Nivea Visage Young is an extension of this, aimed apparantly at the younger end of the market. So much so that Nivea launched a 2 month campaign with Channel 4's HollyOaks (of which I have never watched, showing my old age!) in order to raise awareness of the brand.
There are a few Nivea Visage Young products on the market:
* Be beautiful tinted moisture care
* Wash n refine daily wash scrub
* Wash off cleansing gel
* Scrubaway exfoliating scrub
* Freshen up toner
* Control it moisturiser
~ What does 'Control It Moisturiser' offer? ~
* Hydrates skin
* provides long-term shine control
* Enriched with oil-absorbing mattispheres to remove shininess
* Contains active shine regulator
* LIght, oil-free moisturiser
* Quickly abosrbed
* Won't clog pores
Young skin needs mild products to control shiny skin and prevent the formation of impurities.
Designed for oily and mixed skin.
~ My Experience ~
This comes boxed, inside of which is a 150ml tube of moisturiser.
The cream is very light aquamarine in tint, very much like the colour of the box shown by ciao.
It has a pleasant, clean and refreshing smell to it and is very easily absorbed, I think in part this is due to my older, drier (prune-like!) skin.
~ The effects ~
I will give you two verdicts, one of which is mine (37years old) and the other of my 17 year old nephew who has much younger skin than me, how cruel is time!!
~ 37 year old female ~
As stated I liked the smell, pleasant, clean and refreshing! Easy application and very quickly absorbed.
Anyone who knows me or has read my earlier reviews will know that my skin is mixed but prone to slight dryness during the cold winter months.
The moisturiser felt lovely and cool when first applied but after a ten minute period my not-so-young skin began to feel 'tight' and unmoisturised.
I know that I haven't got young skin but even so it is said that this cream is suitable for 'mixed' skin not just oily skin so I would have expected a little bit more moisturisation.
All in all, a bit disappointing.
~ 17 year old male ~
Having realised that this didn't work for me, I passed the cream on to my nephew. Now over the dreaded spot phase in his life, I asked him to try this out for me. Still prone to much oilier skin than me I was interested to see how it worked for him plus the fact that I hate waste!
He obliged and found the following:
Easy to apply and relative quick to absorb in to the skin. However there wasn't a great reduction in 'teenage' shine and it certainly didn't provide 'long-term' shine control!
He in fact said that he wouldn't choose this over his regular skin-care regime (oh how teenage boys have changed since my days!!)
~ Price ~
A 150ml generally retails at £4.75 in places like Boots, Asda and Sainsbury's.
~ My Verdict ~
Having been unimpressed with this I had to give it the benefit of the doubt since my skin is far from young. So I gave it another go on younger skin and it still failed in a number of areas.
Neither myself or the younger generation of my family will be purchasing this again, in fact when it was returned to me I still haven't used it due to it's ineffectiveness on my skin. I'll be sticking to E45, more serviceable for older skin!!
The one star is for it 's smell but overall, a big fat no!!
Summary: Not a product that I would recommend!
