Advantages: easy to use, does what it says, smells lovely

Disadvantages: none for us

This normally sells for over £4 but my younger daughter was lucky enough to come across some in our local Superdrug store for half price so we managed to stock up on one of our favourite skincare products.

I've never been disappointed with Nivea creams but this,in my opinion, is the very best & is far superior to some much more expensive ones I've tried over the years. Please don't be put off by the word 'Young' on the tube as although it's ideal for my 18 year old's skin it always works on my 56 year old face!

The 75ml box is very stylish & it clearly states that it's from the Nivea Visage Young range & described as a mattifying gel cream which 'controls shine & hydrates for matt & soft skin'. When opened there's a sturdy plastic tube which stands upright on the flip-top cap. There's a decent-sized hole which allows you to squeeze just the amount of the lovely pale blue gel cream that you need.

The cream itself smells gorgeous - it's described as 'Ocean Minerals' & I must say that it has a fresh & uplifting smell which is very pleasant & lasts for some time. It's really easy to use & doesn't need to be worked into the face very much as it's quickly absorbed.

There's no oil in it which probably accounts for the fact that it has a mattifying effect which is great for covering the T zone or using on the full face to give a much soother effect. In addition we both remarked on the softness of our faces when using it & the almost immediate effect it had despite having different skin types & well as our ages. I'd therefore say it suits both oily or combination skin types.

I was initially unsure if this mattifying gel lotion amy be a little drying for my skin but actually found it felt more refreshed. I tend not to wear much foundation in the summer so it's good to know it contains a UVA/UVB filter system but have found it's great to apply both on a 'naked' face or with make-up on top.

It doesn't feel 'heavy' on the face nor does it leave a film, plus it states that the product 'does not clog pores' yet is easy to remove with cleanser - what more can you ask?

A full but long list of ingredients is printed both on the box & the tube itself (most don't make any sense to me) but I trust Nivea! There's also a website www.NIVEA.co/YOUNG where you can get a free skin type test & beauty advice.

I'd really recommend giving this a try if you see it on offer?

Summary: a great mattifying gel cream
