Advantages: Leaves skin smooth and soft

Disadvantages: Not moisturising enough for dry skin.

Last Christmas I got a few different gift sets from Boots with lots of lovely Boots No7 products in. This was a great way of trying some different products to see what they are like. The one I am reviewing today is the Essential Moisture Night Cream.

The cream is available only in Boots stores or online at Boots.com. It costs £9.50 for a 50ml tub although Boots often have special offers including 3 for 2 or a free gift set when you spend over a certain amount so its worth looking out for these offers if you are interested in buying it.

It contains Vitamins E and F and elderflower which is used for its soothing properties. It is hypoallergenic, dermatologically tested and is also fragrance free.

My cream comes in a little tub with a screw top lid. The cream is pale pink and is of a moderate consistency. The smell isn't very exciting, I would have liked something a bit nicer and fresher instead it smells a bit chemically.

Applying the cream to my skin it feels quite nice and is richer than the day cream in the same range. You don't need to use much as a small amount goes a long way and is enough to cover your face and neck. At first it does give a slightly greasy look to your face but then it absorbs fairly quickly into my skin and leaves my skin feeling softer and smoother after using it.

This is a good general night cream for most skin types but I think if you had really dry skin you might need a cream that was a bit richer. When my skin is really dry I either change to another moisturiser or use this one but in conjunction with a face serum to give my skin a little bit more moisturiser.

Summary: A good general night time moisturiser

I have dry skin and I found after a few weeks of using this my skin was really really dry.

I agree. I've had cheaper face creams that do as good a job. Still, if it's part of a gift set, why turn it down?!
