Advantages: A RICH, YET GENTLE MOISTURISER THAT FEELS REALLY NOURISHING TO THE SKIN...
Disadvantages: CAN BE QUITE A THICK SALVE TO ABSORB - SO YOU CAN END UP LOOKING LIKE AN EGYPTIAN NIGHT-TIME MUMMY!
Creamy, rich, nourishing, and satisfying when absorbed too...right that's enough about chocolate, you lot - let's get to the topic on question ...'OLAY'!
You know it's not just food we can get passionate about is my wacky little point there, the food I feed 'to' my face is just as important as the food I feed straight to the oral orifice 'in' my face!
Now, I have stayed true to my favourite brand of moisturiser since the era of it being sold under the banner of 'Oil of Ulay', at a time when the cream was heavily promoted as keeping one's complexion looking refreshingly young...
It was a fantastic advertising campaign back in the day - with minions of inebriated males asking young girls who were out pubbing and clubbing if, they too, used Oil of Olay, like the luminescent-looking ladies on the memorable TV adverts did?
It was one of the most twee chat up lines going at the time, but it made all the lovelies titter with girlish glee!
Of course, over the years I have tried several other famous skin care creams designed for nocturnal use - but not for long, as they just cannot deliver the same supple facial feeling as my beloved 'Olay Double Action Night Cream' does.
Other, more expensive moisturising merchandise - although extremely hyped via the media with statistical backup as to how effective they truly are, just don't do it for me like my good, old faithful 'nourishing and regenerating' emollient.
Priced at £4.88 in Boots nowadays (but can also be found in many good stockists), this is hardly in the higher price bracket for moisturising creams; in fact is very inexpensive for the great results it delivers to my hypersensitive skin.
However, this isn't about the cheap price tag attached - rather than how wonderful this thick white soothing salve of extremely complicated sounding ingredients feels, when I lovingly apply it.
Personally, I buy the one designed for 'Sensitive' cream by the makers 'Procter & Gamble' - due to unfortunately suffering with extreme dermatitis reactions to perfumed products - although there is a normal/combination variant on the market also.
My 50ml creamy content size is found inside a black screw-lidded opaque round pot, within a 'pretty in pink' little square thin cardboard recyclable box.
The outer packaging displays the now iconic Olay name in black capital letters; underneath is found the 'sensitive' label in a tiny green label atop the word 'night' set in blue.
On the back is found the list of ingredients including the likes of Glycerin, and on each side of the box there are pieces of relevant marketing and directional information.
Olay's results promise: 'Wake up to soft and beautiful every day!' with advice given on how to 'pamper your sensitive skin' by gently massaging the double action night cream into the face and neck areas, after cleansing said skin first.
I feel it's fantastic just to be able to gently apply a lotion onto my face that I can safely leave to do its job overnight while I rest, and not wake up to a drawn, taut complexion.
There is a long list of reasons why this cream is good for you, including the fact it replaces moisture lost during the day by letting its rich moisturising lotion soak into the skin at nigh to re-hydrate and repair by '...enhancing the skin's natural regeneration process, replenishing its protective hydro-lipidic film'.
Like a lot of cosmetic/toiletry products, some of these manufacturers' more technical claims are all Greek to me; suffice it to say this cream feels luxurious on my skin after a day out in the open when my face can feel quite tight and dehydrated...
The jargon on the carton says it's non-greasy and I would definitely agree with that, as it is quickly absorbed into the skin allowing it 'to breathe'...not the way I lather it on it's not, but that's by the by!
Most importantly to me, this formula is pH neutral', dermatologically tested, and is 100% perfume and colour free - all positives in my book, and reasons why I still stick to this tried and tested cream, as I know I will not suffer an adverse reaction to any harsh chemical additives or unnecessarily added fragrances.
So, do I look younger then, dear readers...that is the loaded question?
Well considering I am 45 in a mere few weeks ('Screech, Noooo'!), I do tend to get loads of compliments about my looks, plus *Bob* the boyfriend, loves my complexion - whilst being almost 18 years my junior, kindly turns a blind eye to my 'laughter lines', gawd love him!
In my opinion this is a wonderful product, and blinds some of its 'new generation' extremely expensive competitors, in terms of enriching the skin's facial epidermis layers.
Any compliments I receive regarding my youthful looks I directly attribute to my beloved Olay - as I use their whole host of products - right through from the cleanser to both the day plus night-time creams; plus the Olay 'Regenerist' serum as an extra nourishing light-liquid layer for my dehydrated skin to greedily feast on!
Highly recommended and a 5 star addition to my skin care daily routine...plus it can sometimes be found on a '3 for 2 Offer' on Olay products at my favoured 'Boots' store...
Guess which reviewer stocks up on all hers there then?!
Summary: I LOVE THIS PRODUCT AND THINK IT'S UNBEATABLE FOR THE PRICE, WELL DONE OLAY ON A GREAT CREAM!
