Advantages: Pleasant Cooling Sensation
Disadvantages: Does not reduce lines
Earlier in the year I reviewed the Garnier Eye Roll on and after finding that a bit useless, I decided that I would continue with my mission to find a product that I actually liked!
I initially made a decision to seek out some eye gel as I can look quite puffy around the eyes first thing in the morning (worse at this time of year with all the stinking pollen!).
I have also noticed that I am starting to look a bit wrinkly around the eyes - developing lines (I prefer calling them lines to wrinkles) and small crow's feet around the corners of my eyes. I decided that I would try and nip this in the bud before it got too noticeable.
The Product
I chose an Olay product as I do have quite sensitive skin - so thought that this wouldn't irritate me at all. According to the beauty folk at Olay this eye gel is supposed to renew the moisture around the eyes to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. It also contains cucumber extract which revitalizes the area around the eyes leaving them looking fresh and radiant - sounded perfect!
The gel comes in a 15ml see through, plastic tub with a black lid. It's very small and sweet and I really hoped it worked and I would want to use it often as it would fit tidily into my handbag. It cost about £7.00 for the tiny tub.
Application
The eye gel is a clear jelly type liquid which means that you can't spill it. It also doesn't appear to have any particularly noticeable smell. To apply you simply massage a small amount of the gel into the eye area which requires attention. You are supposed to do this after you have thoroughly cleansed your skin.
Results
I have been applying this eye gel before going to bed at night and have probably been using it for about 6 weeks.
On a couple of occasions I must admit that I did have a bit of irritation around the eyes after using this product- in that my eyes themselves were a bit watery. This is surprising as the product is fragrance and colour free so you wouldn't expect it to irritate - maybe I just got it a bit too near my actual eye.
I am still yet to see any spectacular results! It does feel cooling and soothing on the eyes which is very nice but I can see no actual change or improvement in my fine lines (erm...wrinkles...)
I will continue to use the gel as I still have plenty left in my pot - it is certainly very long lasting as you only add a small amount on each application. However I would be very unlikely to purchase again. Even though the gel provides a very pleasant, cooling sensation around the eyes (which is especially nice after a long day at work), I could get this with 2 slices of chilled cucumber which would cost considerably less! As there are no changes to my lines/tiny wrinkles I could not justify spending £7 on this again, however soothing it feels.
And so, the mission for non puffy, line free, bright eyes continues.......
Summary: Stick to Cucumber
