Advantages: Works

Disadvantages: None at all it's brilliant

When it comes to Olay I'm a massive fan of the range and own loads of products. When it comes to looking after the skin on my face I'm hyper critical of my appearance and take the fight against aging terrible seriously. I hate the fact that I'm getting older to be completely honest with you. I hate the frown lines, wrinkles, age spots and anything else that makes me wake up sweating in the night with fear but at the same time I'm aware that at the end of the day there is a little that I can really do about it.

I do believe however a good skin regime is very important for us ladies. I use decent cleansing and toning products to keep my skin clean and as glowing and healthy as possible and there is nothing worse than having aging skin covered in spots and blackheads (which I am really prone to). I do pay out alot on moisturisers and do use them religiously and really get through bottles and tubs of the stuff on a weekly basis. As I have said I don't think they cure all ills but I do believe that by hydrating the skin (in my case) that I do soften my skin and make therefore it appears healthier and smoother. I do not believe that any moisturiser is a miracle product and that is why although I spend alot of money (in my opinion) on my beauty regime I'm not buying stuff for over a hundred quid a pot as I'm not that silly (at the moment lol). However if someone found something totally amazing in that price range I have to admit I'd save up for it and have to have a go with it lol!

I use a daytime and a nigh time moisturiser. I use moisturiser as a make up base and then I have other products like an anti wrinkle serum to put on when I use make up, a serum for under nighttime moisturisers and stuff like that. As I said previously I take it all very seriously! However I'm not beating the signs of aging no matter what I'm using in all honesty and feel alot that I am wasting my time and my money. I have deep frown lines, through stress and smoking and under my eyes are losing elasticity as well. To be perfectly honest with you I'm so distressed about these issues I have been looking into having Botox done but the problem with that is that it seems once you have it done you need to keep re having it done as skin actually becomes worse over time through the treatment and me well I'm thinking sure I can afford a few treatments but long term? I'm not so sure in this economcal climate and I really don't want to get in an awful position so I'm resisting biting that particular bullet for now! I also looked into getting myself a fringe to cover up my frown lines but sadly I have a cows lick with frizz and the last time my hairdresser put one in for me without telling me first my hair was wrecked and I had to live with the shame of it! So there seems little I can do and my forehead is on constantly on display (my main worry) and there doesn't seem to be alot I can do about that! I'm sat here now reading what I've wrote thinking bugger it I am almost 35 but then I look a my friends and I resent it all big time. I know for a fact they don't look after their skin as I do and they don't look as creased and crumpled up as me! Life just isn't fair at all really is it?! lol!

So coming to the conclusion that I'm hurrying to becoming an old bag quicker than my peers I felt the need for some new moisturiser. As I said earlier I really like Olay and I've always found every product of theirs suited to my combination skin (apart from any containing tanning agents) and feel that all of their products deliver their promises to me and are worth their money (which are usually quite high priced!).

The Packaging....

Comes in a black, recyclable cardboard squarish box and I have seen this in a clear plastic 'pocket' design as well. Basically on the front of both they tell you what the product is and who it is by and on the back tells you a bit about the product, how to use it, contact details for Procter & Gamble are given (the manufactures of Olay products) the recycle symbol is on there and that's about your lot. Whichever packaging yours comes in when bought it all looks nice and gives you lots of information about what to expect etc and inspires confidence.

The tub itself is white with a large black integrated push button to the top of it and clear plastic lid that sits securely over the top and you simply pull it on and off to use it. On the front there is a gold ladies face (the branding on all Olay products) then in black writing I'm told it's Olay, then in gold writing I'm told it's Total Effects 7x and then in yellow writing I'm told it contains SPF 15. On the back of the tub in black writing I'm told it is an anti-aging day moisturiser-SPF 15, UV protection and that if product gets into eyes then to rinse it off with water and then I'm told that information in a foreign language. Then at the bottom of the tub I'm once again given contact details for Procter & Gamble and told the product is made in Ireland, the size is stated which is 50ml and finally the recycle symbol is on there. All in all the tub looks classy and functional and not one bit cheap. It's easy to use and a secure design. Basically just by looking at the tub you can tell it isn't a cheap and nasty product.

A Bit About Olay Total Effects....

Firstly lets look at what we are promised from this moisturiser as for me I didn't even know what the 7x meant when it came to this product and felt a bit baffled. So I have read up online about this moisturiser and read the stuff written on the back of the box my moisturiser came in and stuff and I'm going to explain what I have deduced from this.

What this product basically promises is to give us 7 anti-aging therapies in 1 tub. In short that means it should give us line minimisation which is basically meaning that it can help with the appearance of wrinkles. That it gives a deep moisture drench to the skin therefore giving back some skin elasticity and helping skin to radiate with health. This also promises to help with age spots. (I know I'm getting skin discolouration as I get on a bit!) It also promises to give skin exfoliation and help with over sized pores. It also promises skin radical defence which means that with the SPF this contains it will protect the skin from sun rays that can not always be seen but are always with us no matter the weather. Finally it promises to lift the skin. This doesn't promise to be a face lift in a tub but with prolonged use but does think it will tighten and firm up the skin for us.

It contains a fusion of anti-oxidants and vitamins to provide all this along with being dermatologically tested, comedogenic (which means it won't clog pores) and is fast-absorbing as it's oil-free.

All sounds very promising and lets face it at £16.33 a tub (price taken from the Boots website) but widely available in all good chemists and Supermarkets I think we need them promises for something with that price tag as it isn't exactly cheap. For me it's always hard to know which Olay product to pick as the range is so vast so this for me was a good choice as promises contain all that I'm looking for in one product. I want a simple moisturiser that works that I can basically use day and night and under make up etc and is fuss free and provides results after-all.

Using It....

Simple! The push button dispenser works each and every time and even though I've owned mine ages it has never clogged or got stuck or anything. Just push slightly and the pale peachy coloured cream come out. It's not a hard or thick in consistency as you can imagine as it comes out of a nozzle but it is thick enough. The smell is very light. Slightly fruity and floral it's delicate and not one bit harsh making this a perfect moisturiser for men as well if they want to use it. The lotion is fast absorbing into the skin an you don't need very much and on touch with the skin it goes sort of greasy for a second or two and then absorbs leaving no feeling of any residue or heaviness on the skin apart from skin being soft to the touch in a very natural way.

I like the way it's easy to apply and takes about two seconds to completely dry and that skin not only feels hydrated on the inside but really does make skin glow healthily on the outside too and you can see the difference. Skin instantly looks brighter, cleaner and smoothed and basically the face just feels really comfortable to live in. With this on my face I don't feel the urge to cake two ton of make up over it as my skin looks really nice anyway (for a change lol). Open pores really do diminished and lines do appear less visible instantly. Skin feels a bit tighter but not in a horrible or uncomfortable way. Put it this way I feel that this product is one that can become an addiction. I love this as part of my make up routine as it makes my skin radiate health and glow, gets it smooth and supple and my skin feels tighter so I feel younger and more confident with this on.

Overall....

It's just a really great product you can use whenever you want to. It doesn't agitate my skin or cause spots or greasy or dried out skin either. This is an instant beauty treatment and great when skin really feels like it needs help immediately. However I have noticed that with prolonged use of this moisturiser that my skin in general feels healthier, I've had less skin problems I.E spots and a greasy t-zone and my lines really do look diminished though to get them results took me about 14 days of continousnous daily use but again it's noticableable difference and worth using it.

This doesn't suddenly take years off you but it really does feel great and none sticky on the skin. Use it and forget about it but so good is this that I even get compliments on my skin when I just have this on and no make up and that's a great confidence boost for me as I'm a make up addict and prefer to hide the real me from the world. My lines are not so deep as I feared before I started using this and my skin is hydrated and feels more supple. I like it on my neck as well and have even used it on the back of my hands when they've felt dried out in this awful winter weather. You can see the difference after using this anywhere and that's why I love this simple but effective product.

Suitable for any woman to use any time!

Summary: If you have no idea which moisturiser to use this is the one for you, it does it all!
