Olay daily cleansers eye make up removing cream
Always keen to pick up a bargain and try it out, I found this in my local discount store for £1. Working on the “nothing ventured nothing gained” principle, I decided it was worth a go.
~~What does it do?~~
It claims to remove all eye make up, including the waterproof variety; tall order because I usually find that if I use waterproof mascara, it stays put!
The special formula claims to care for the eye area because it is enriched with Olay moisture, so I should be getting a totally moisturising eye treatment.
~~Who is it for?~~
The eye make up remover is for normal/dry and combination skin; I wonder at this stage why they didn’t merely state that it was for all skin types.
~~Product and packaging~~
I am more used to the liquid eye make up removers, so it was unusual to be faced with a product in a tube. The plastic tube has a flip on/press back down lid and there is 100ml of the product inside.
Obviously, on the front there is the Olay trademark logo, with some blurb about the miracle properties of the product, and on the back are the usual instructions and lists of ingredients.
Open up the lid and give the tube a bit of a squeeze to get the cream out. It’s all dermatologically tested and proven (for what I don’t know) so I was expecting there to be no smell at all, and I was right. The cram itself is white, odourless and quite a thick consistency. I like the idea of this because it gives the impression that it will be quite gentle on the old peepers.
~~How do I use it?~~
Apply a small amount to fingertips, and gentle massage it onto eyelids and eyelashes- make sure eyes are closed! Remove the cream using damp cotton wool.
~~Who makes it?~~
Proctor and Gamble Uk
www.olay.com. The website has lots of information about the products and stockists but unfortunately gives no details on RRP.
~~What did I think of it?~~
As I mentioned, I was a tad dubious about using a cream, having always used liquid eye make up removers. I did get the idea into my head that this was going to be a far more gentle experience than rubbing at my eyes with liquid on a bit of cotton wool, and how right I was.
Only a small amount is needed otherwise it gets all over the place- I would suggest a pea size amount, and see how it goes from there. I applied the cream to eye lids and lashes and removed with cotton wool as suggested. Hey presto! Make up was removed. For very stubborn mascara all I had to do was apply a little more of the cream and massage very gently, removing once again with cotton wool.
Because not very much is needed each time, I think there is less wastage than with liquid removers, so this little tube has lasted me more than a month now, so very good value for money.
After using it, my eyes and eye area feel very moisturised and don’t feel at all as though they have been scrubbed to remove make up.
All in all, this is a product which I would recommend and definitely buy again (especially at £1). It is gentle, causes no reactions, my eyes feel moisturised, it removes even waterproof make up, and is easy to use. It does what it promises to do, and I believe I am now a convert to cream eye make up removers…until the next bargain buy!!
Thanks for reading .
