Advantages: Olay, cream, it works
Disadvantages: None
I have always been a big fan of the Olay products as I've used it now for years. My mum used it before me so I think I was just following in her footsteps like most young girls do.
Olay was first produced in South Africa. It has been a Procter and Gamble product since 1985 and became one of their Billion dollar brands in 2003. Apparently the name Oil of Olay was chosen by the producer (a chemist called Graham Wulff) because it was a spin off of the word Lanolin which was the key ingredient.
Lanolin is used in the production of many cosmetics and lotions etc perhaps it is easily absorbed by the skin. It actually comes from wool bearing animals such as sheep and is secreted from their glands. (Eww, when you actually think or read what goes into make ups and lotions etc you would never want to use them!!)
Olay has come a long way since the early days when it was just a pink liquid in a jar.
It now has expanded into a wide range of other products and I use quite a few of them. The one I am reviewing here is the Olay Eye Make Up remover. I am one who always has to remove her make up at the end of the day as I hate to sleep in it and think my face does a lot better without it on and so I was very excited when I found this product a few years ago. I love Olay so to have a make up remover that uses Olay lotion as well is an absolute benefit.
The Olay eye make up remover comes in a tube with a flip top cap. The tube is white with blue writing on it and the cap is blue. The lotion inside is quite thick. It is fragrance free and colour free to care for the delicate eye area. To me, it smells a bit like regular Olay lotion which as it says above doesn't really have a fragrance but you can tell it is an Olay lotion. The lotion is for everyday cleansing and either normal/dry or combination skin. I think this is nice because just about every skin type is catered for with this make up remover.
The lotion is described as a caring eye make up remover which is specially blended for the delicate eye area. What I like is that it is quite a rich cream and so it feels like you are really getting protection for your skin when you use it. The lotion is very easy to use. Basically you are told to apply a small amount to your fingertip and very gently massage the eyelids and lashes with the eyes closed. You then remove the excess with cotton wool. I like to use the cotton wool pads which work extremely well. I find that all my eye make up does really come off with just a tiny bit of this lotion so I think it works fantastically well. I don't use waterproof mascara but it says on the tube that it removes even this type of mascara too which is great.
