Advantages: They smell nice,, Cleanse and exfoliate in one - time saving,, Nice box :o)
Disadvantages: Expensive,, Can leave your skin feeling slightly sticky if you don't rinse it properly afterwards.
I'm lazy. That's why I like using face wipes...Just pull one out of the pack, wipe your face a bit and off you go. The only thing I don't like about them is when you get half way through the pack and they start to dry out. That's where Olay Daily Facials come in. They come in a box which means you don't have to worry about wasting any wipes due to them drying out... Oh and maybe something to do with the fact that they're dry anyway and it's your job to wet them ;o) I first came across Olay's Daily Facials when I was doing what I do best.... Looking for freebies. Olay were giving away free samples of their 'New Improved' Daily Facials, so of course I sent off for them. Previously, though, I'd seen an advert for them on TV.... But I was doubtful that they would lather up as much as shown! There are 3 different types of cleansing cloth to choose from: * Hydrating cloths from Normal to Dry skin * Clarifying cloths for Oily/Combination skin * Soothing cloths for Sensitive skin The names of these cloths are pretty self-explanatory, but basically each of the 3 cloths have been designed to cater for the needs of each specific skin type. You can tell the difference between the different cloths, as each different type is identified by a different coloured strip on the box. If you're not sure which cloths to choose from, then the Olay website has ever-so-helpfully added a short survey to identify which cleansing cloth will best suit your skin. This review will be on the cleansing cloths that Olay recommended I use - The Clarifying cloths for Combination/oily skin. * Packaging * Now then, as I mentioned before, these cleansing cloths come in a plastic box, white in colour, with a cardboard sleeve over it. Inside the plastic box is another smaller box in which sits the face cloths. The inner box means it's easy to refill the box, with the refill
packs you an buy. The majority of the cardboard covering is white, with some blue. There's also a picture of a woman with perfect skin using these wipes. My box has a purple strip on it, as I bought the cloths for combination skin. Upon the cardboard sleeve is all the information you need to know about the cloths... The description (In other words, why they're so great and will transform your life if you use them), the instructions for use (Comes complete with pictures just incase you're REALLY stupid) and of course the long list of ingredients.... I like the packaging. It's simple and looks nice sitting on the shelf. * The Claims * When looking at the Daily Facial website, or even just on the packaging, you start to get the feeling that these cleansing cloths are something special.... Firstly because they are called 'Cleansing Cloths' rather than 'Face Wipes', but also because of all the claims that Olay make about them. 'Customized to cleanse, tone, exfoliate, and condition skin in one step to improve skin health.' So they're saying one of these cloths will take place of your regular cleanser, toner AND moisturiser? 'Containing a unique clean rinsing lather that removes dirt and makeup, the unique, dual-textured cloths deeply cleanse and gently exfoliate to visibly improve skin clarity 80% better than basic cleansing.' Hmm.....This is when I started to get very suspicious that the cloths would do what they said. Not that I would notice if they did... I don't know what clarify means anyway. The cleansing cloths contain lots of special ingredients which are aimed at helping combination skin. Witch hazel, pro-vitamin B5, and Beta Hydroxy are all contained in the cleansing solution on the cloth, and these ingredients are basically supposed to remove dirt and make up whilst leaving your skin deeply cleaned and exfoliated.
> * The Cloths * Upon opening the box and removing a cloth, I was initially suprised to see that the cloth was dry... Then I remebered the instructions said to wet the cloth before use (It was at this point I realised the pictures that come with the step-by-step instructions of how to use the cloths were for people like me!). The cloth is a rounded rectangle shape and is about 20cm by 15cm, slightly larger than face wipes I've used before. Another difference between these cloths and ones which I have used before is the cloth itself. While other face wipes are just one cloth, the Olay cloths are like 2 clothes stuck together - One is very soft and smooth and the other has a rougher feel to it. Looking closer, I can see that it's rougher due to the fact it has tiny little holes in it. So anyway, off I went to wet the cloth. At first I wasn't sure how much water to wet the cloth with, as I didn't want to wash off the cleanser in the cloth before I'd got a chance to use it. With a little water, I continued to follow the instruction and rubbed the cloth together. I was pleasantly suprised to see tons of lather... Just as much as the woman on the advert had got. The lather was smooth and not like a soap lather, but not like a cleanser lather either... It was more like a bubble bath lather, but with little-er bubbles. The lather smells really nice. It's not got a specific smell, it's just a delicate, soft smell. I think it smells slightly like sun cream, but it's very pleasant anyway. When I began cleansing my face with the cloth, I started with the rough side of the cloth and finished off with the smoother side. As soon as I started rubbing the cloth against my skin, it began to feel really smooth as the cleanser got to work. The lather felt silky soft against my skin, and actually felt as if it was giving my skin a really deep clean. When it came to removing my eye make up, these
cleansing cloths worked extremely well - I was at first a bit uncertain about whether I should actually use these to remove my eye make-up, because I wa s sure the cleanser would sting my eyes - But I was proved wrong when the cloths removed every last bit of my eye make up - even black mascara and eyeliner, without stinging my eyes at all. As advised, I used the soft side of the cloth to cleanse the delicate eye area. After I was satisfied my face was clean and all my make up was completely removed, then came the time to rinse my face. The instructions for use tell you to rinse all the remaining cleanser out the cloth and then use it to rinse your face, but I decided to use cotton wool instead, because not only would it have taken me ages to get all the bubbles out of the cloth, but also there was still loads of bubbles left in the cloth... Meaning cheapo me could re-use it. Upon rinsing my face, it did feel very clean, as promised, however my skin did feel slightly tight afterwards, but only until I moisturised my skin. I find that when it comes to rinsing your face afterwards, you must make sure that you remove every single last bit of the cleanser - otherwise your face will be left all sticky and even tighter, which is not nice at all! From the first time I used these cloths, my skin felt smoother, tighter and softer. With regular use, this continued and I feel my skin condition has improved since I began using them. Unlike other cleansers I have used, these actually make my skin feel like it's been throughly cleansed, rather than just on the surface. My skin feels clearer and softer. Even though the cloths said they conditioned the skin too, I found I still needed to use a moisturisor afterwards. I find that I only need to use 1 cleansing cloth a day. I either cut a cloth in half before wetting it or I re-use it by lathering it up again. I find this way the cloths last longer and for the price, that's a g
ood thing! This way a box of 30 will last me roughly a month. * Price * These cleansing cloths do not come cheaply. Unless you have a money off voucher for them, a box will set you back £6.99, while a refill pack will cost you £5.99. I bought them from Boots, but you might be able to find them chesper in places like Savers. Both the box and refill packs contain 30 cleansing cloths, which means each cloth works out to around 23p each. This is quite expensive, especially if you use one cloth each in the morning and evening, as this works out to 46p a day, but it's not so bad if you use half a cloth each time you cleanse your face. * Overall * Overall I was impressed with these cloths. They left my skin soft, deep clean and smooth. They have been more effective than most cleansers I have used recently. Olay claimed that these cleansing clothes would visibly improve the condition of my skin and even though I was doubtful at first that they would, I can definitely say that they have. They smell nice, produce lots and lots of lather, remove all make up (even mascara which is sometimes hard to remove) and leaves skin feeling like it's been cleaned really well. They also save time, due to the way that there is a cleanser and exfoliator in one. The only let down of these cloths is the price. £6.99 for the initial box of cloths is quite expensive, but if you think about it, they are 2 cloths stuck together, each doing a different job in your cleansing routine, so I suppose it's not that bad! * Other Stuff * * Don't flush your wipes down the toilet - they'll block it up. * Don't let children below 3 years use these - they'll eat them. * I would recommend these cleansing cloths to you.
