Advantages: QUALITY GENTLE CLEANSING WIPES THAT CLAIM TO HELP THE AGING PROCESS...

Disadvantages: THEY DON'T 'ACTUALLY' WIPE A MONTH OFF MY AGE EVERYTIME I USE ONE!

When it comes to most things 'Olay' I am a huge fan, having used some of their products for years on end (Oops a dead cert giveaway for my mature self there!)

Admittedly, when the 'Total Effects' range was introduced I was a tad sceptical; after all, let's face it, these companies will stop at nothing to get the multi-million pound edge in the very lucrative skin care market, won't they?

Also, there was a touch of wounded ego at not needing to fight the Olay infamous '7 signs of aging', listed as follows:

1. Helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

2. Helps reduce the appearance of pores by deep cleansing

3. Exfoliates to reveal newer skin under the surface

4. Helps to smooth skin texture - visibly and to the touch

5. Helps to even skin tone

6. Improves surface dullness giving skin a radiant healthy looking glow

7. Hydrates and softens skin

Now that's a lot of promises made on the back of my 'Olay 7x age-defying wet cleansing cloths' pack!

Priced at £4.95 from Boots, I tend to buy these when they are regularly on a '3 for 2' offer on this famous range. Not the cheapest facial wipes by far of course, but for me the gentle nature of this product, coupled with the undoubted quality of their already tried and tested creams and lotions in my household made them a safe bet for me.
I suffer badly with dermatitis on most parts of my body, thus have to be extremely careful what substances I soak my hyper-sensitive skin with.

Plus my daughter, a teenager going through the awful acne stage for the past couple of years, also uses cleansing cloths to remove her quite liberal makeup on a regular basis; so I don't mind her pinching these Olay wipes as I know they will be mild on her troubled skin...

In a sleek black long recyclable plastic wrapper with classy gold writing, these 25 textured, alcohol free and dermatologically tested robust tissue-like cloths are about 5"x 6" (16.5x19.1cm), when fully unravelled after removing from the pack via a peel up and re-sealable label.

Very moist, and pleasantly perfumed with Citronellol and Linalool amongst other additives, there is nothing in them that has aggravated my skin at any time.

Strong, perforated and quite tear-resistant, there is enough moisture contained within each little thin towel to remove all but the most stubborn of makeup, including waterproof mascara I am happy to report!

Manufactured by 'Procter & Gamble', there is a little logo on the front of the packaging saying 'now cleanse away the years!'
Ahh, as if it were that easy -although I am sure these enriched cloths do help in maintaining the suppleness and hydration levels of most people's skins...

Ingredients include Glycerin, Glycols, and Panthenol, as well as a whole host of complex sounding chemical names I do not profess to understand!

Suffice it to say, the wipes are kind to the skin and effective at their job. Plus damp enough to wipe over the face several times to do a thorough sweep without dehydrating too rapidly, as a lot of cheaper cloths are want to do.
The instructions are simple enough, smooth over the eyes, face and neck and then dispose of the used item in a bin rather than flushing down the loo (*Oops, embarrassed cough now*).

Now I am quite the old fashioned soap, cleanse, tone and then moisturise kinda gal; but these wipes do serve a purpose for me in times of experimenting with new makeup, or in times of inebriation (*innocent whistle now*!).

As regards all the hype around the product, well I can't say I've noticed any exfoliation from the cloths, but what I can say is that the cloths do feel very nourishing to the skin. The face and surrounding areas where I have swept one of these Olay Total Effects wipes do feel softer and healthier to the touch.
There is no sticky residue left over, another bugbear of mine with some of the harsher tissue-type towels that there are out there; rather the excess liquid left on the epidermis from the Olay cleansing cloths just evaporates away within a minute or so of being left to dry...

For 20p per wipe these are not inexpensive for what they are, but anything that is protective to the skin is worth the cost in my book.

The delicate after-smell is lovely too.

Some similar style cloths can be overpowering and reek of chemically enhanced fragrance that is quite frankly, Yukky!

In my opinion you would have to go a long way as a consumer in finding anything better within this price range to do the job these Total Effects wipes are designed to do.
As far as the claims to help with the aging process go, well in my case it would be hard to say as I don't use them every day - but they certainly can't hurt the cause!

For this reason as I am so happy with this caring product I will award a fully hydrated 5 Stars today to my review subject!
