Advantages: Lovely packaging, smells nice
Disadvantages: Texture a bit heavy for my skin, not much impact on bags or lines
I'm 35, and find that my eye area is my main concern in terms of skincare - i'm prone to dark circles and some puffiness under my eyes if i've had anything other than a wonderful night's sleep, and find people often ask me if i'm tired even when i'm not! I am also seeing some fine lines appearing at the outside of my eyes, where they crinkle up when i smile.
I bought the Mega-Mushroom Eye Serum along with the Face Serum, a little over a year ago and have been using both fairly consistently ever since.
~ The Product ~
The serum contains extracts from three types of mushroom ( Hypsizygus ulmarius, Cordyceps and Reishi, for the technically minded!!) plus Ginger, Turmeric, Holy Basil, and Grape Seed Extract. The Origins blurb says these will "quell over-reactive skin and reduce the appearance of under eye puffiness" and that Yeast Extract also helps relieve dark circles.
The serum comes in a very smart dark green glass bottle, with a pump action top which you twist to switch on and off. You can also unscrew the whole top also to get to those last bits of product, which is a nice touch. The dark glass also helps protect the product from sunlight. Overall, it looks high quality and expensive (just as well really because it is - but more on that later!).
In use, the serum is quite thick - actually thicker than the Face version - but more of a light creamy texture than a serum, it doesn't have the slightly greasy feel that some serums do. It smells very nice, fresh and slightly herbal. I find that the serum feels slightly heavy on my skin after application, and because of that i tend to use it just overnight rather than during the daytime. That way it has time to absorb overnight, and i don't end up with nice shiny looking eye bags during the day, which wouldn't really help the situation!
~ Does it work?! ~
I always have to start these sections by saying, of course you never know how much worse things would have been, if you weren't using the product! However, I'm not hugely impressed overall with the performance of this one. I wouldn't say that the puffiness under my eyes has improved that much, and have ended up supplementing this with other products which do make more difference - Origins' own "No Puffery", for example. And the small lines around my eyes seem to be pretty much as visible as ever.
Overall, i'd have to say that this is a lovely product to use, but doesn't really deliver that much in terms of results. It's also pricey - retail is £35, although so far one bottle has lasted me over a year.
Summary: I wouldn't buy it again.
