I recommend smoothing this over totally dry skin - gently, as you can feel the exfoliating particles at work. Then, just wet your hands and use them to add a tiny bit of warm water to your face, and massage again. At this point, the product turns into a lovely, smooth, moisturising feeling cream, which is lovely when massaged over your skin and can then be easily rinsed away. That bit's the mag...more

Premium Review Origins Modern Friction: Definitely different from other exfoliators i've tried, skin ... (515 words)

This review is based on a small sample tube of the product that i got free when buying some other Origins stuff. It was enough for 4-5 uses though, and i enjoyed it so much that i'll definitely be buying some more, so i think it's fair for me to review it here! I've been using exfoliating products of various kinds, about once a month, for years. I find that they generally improve the radiance of my skin, help moisturisers etc absorb better, and the better ones reduce the number of spots i get. Generally, the cheaper kind have large exfoliating particles which scratch rather than polish, leaving you with distressed skin which is vulnerable to infections and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Fab product, just not a fab price. (1054 words)

I really love Origins as a brand, so will try not to be too bias: basicly before I used Orgins (about 4 years ago) I was a soap and water girl...sometimes. Why sometimes? Well, you see, I couldn't always be bothered. In fact, I used soap when I could remember to. And never in the morning. (water too cold, body too tired...). I would say about once a week. And whenever I washed my hair, it obviously the water would rinse my face- does that count? My skin generally took care of itself...UNTIL I WENT TO UNI! My skin then threw a wobbly at the pollution on London transport (if you ever travel on the tube, blow your nose when you get home, look at the tissue- scary, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Origins Modern Friction: AARGH! MY EYES! (421 words)
by - written on 11/03/09 (Very useful, 149 readings)
Rating:

I've never bought Origins products before (mainly because I can't afford it!) but picked up a free sample of this with a voucher from Marie Claire magazine. As far as samples go it was a very generous 50ml size. This compares to the usual cost of £28 for a 125ml pot so I feel like I got a good deal. My sample came in a tube with a flip-lid at the bottom, although the standard product comes in a small jar. The Origins packaging is all very classy, with green and brown writing on white and translucent containers. My skin is generally on the oily side, although I get some dry patches on my cheeks and around my eyes. I occasionally use a facial ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Totally recommended (just avoid the eyes ..... !) (203 words)

I initially bought this product because I had read so many recommendations for it in various magazines - and was instantly a dedicated follower ! I was initially put off by the price (about £27 for a tiny 125 ml pot) but you only need a small amount each time and it's not recommended that you use it daily. I save mine for when I am going out or if I fancy a relaxing treat. The pot contains a scrub of really thick consistency. It doesn't look, feel or smell particularly luxurious. The abrasive scrub is initially rubbed onto a dry face using a circular motion. You then add a tiny bit of water to make it a bit soapier and softer to rub in. It is ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Origins Modern Friction: If this is modern friction, give me the old-fashioned kind! (211 words)

I received a 125ml sample of this product via a promotion in Marie Claire magazine. You had to pick up the sample at an Origins counter and the sales assistant was very helpful, demonstrating the product. She did warn me about the stinging eyes! I tried the product twice, following her guidance to avoid stinging eyes (don't use in the shower, wipe off with a damp cloth, apply on damp skin if your skin is sensitive). My skin is indeed sensitive and sadly this product didn't work for me. It did make my skin smooth and soft at first but it stung my face on application, and a few days later my face was red, sore and flaky. Not pretty, not ...  Read the complete review
