Advantages: Natural ingredients
Disadvantages: none at moment
It is an interesting fact that people with tan skin want to be fair and people with fairer skin tone want to be tan. When you walk into a departmental store in any of the Asia countries, you will see lots of skin whitening products. It is trendy to look fair hence the market is flooded with many form of skin whitening treatment. Treatments like laser, microdermabrasion, 7 day AHA and glycolic acid treatment and skin lightening serum.
People with tan colour skin do face a problem of hyper pigmentation. As the melanin in a person with darker skin tone is more active, uneven distribution of melanin on skin expose to the sun would usually caused dark spot and pigmentation. Dark spot can also appear on people with old acne scar and it could also be part of the ageing process.
I like being tan but I do not like the sight of pigmentation on my cheek, the area that have the widest exposure to the sun. In my previous review on the Paul Penders Citrus Fruit exfoliant , I wrote about my need to get a good skincare product to get rid of pigmentation on my face. I felt the need to address the pigmentation problem now as the spot seems to be getting darker. In my search for a good skin lightening product, I found Aqua Luna whitening pigmentation cream.
Paul Penders skincare products are all organically produced using cold blending processes which maintained the potency of the bio active ingredient. The ethos of Paul Penders skincare is maintaining freshness, hence the products are produced in small batches.
The signature ingredient of Paul Penders skincare is the unique family devised herbal extract called LevensESSENTIE Gold, meaning Essence of Life in Dutch. The herbal extract is a concentration of 22 European, Chinese and Malaysian certified organic herbs formulated to produce benefits for anti aging and promote healthy skin condition. The 22 certified organic herbs used are:
angelica, arnica, calendula, chamomile, elderflower, ginger, ginseng root, honeysuckle, hops, horsetail, juniper, lavender, lemon balm, nettle, pegaga, peppermint, rosemary, sage, st.john's wort, turmeric, witch hazel, yarrow.
Aqua Luna whitening pigmentation cream is a skin treatment utilising botanical products to lighten age spots and even out skin tone without bleaching. The ingredients include chamomile, green tea, rice fermentation extract and vitamin C.
The chamomile extract helps slow down the melanin movement to the skin's surface and it inhibit UV-induced formation of melanin.
Green tea extract known for its anti oxidant quality works with the camomile extract to slow down melanin to skin surface.
Rice fermentation extract prohibits the formation of melanin.
Vitamin C is a natural anti-oxidant and is used as a natural skin whitening agent in high doses.
These main ingredients work synergistically to provide a gentle and natural skin whitening treatment.
The other ingredients are:
* Levens ESSENTIE GoldTM (aqua, angelica, arnica, calendula, chamomile, elderflower, ginger, ginseng root, honeysuckle, hops, horsetail, juniper, lavender, lemon balm, nettle, pegaga, peppermint, rosemary, sage, st.john's wort, turmeric, witch hazel, yarrow),
* aloe vera extract,
* jojoba oil,
* olive oil natural emulsifier (for cold-process mixing),
* titanium dioxide (mineral sunscreen agent)
* flaxseed oil (essential fatty acid)
* coenzyme Q10 (moisturizer encapsulated in liposomes)
* wheatgerm oil
* xanthan gum
* pycnogenol
* grapefruit extract
* cinnamon
* sorbic acid
* essential oil of lavender
* retinyl palmitate (500,000iu vitamin A)

* electro colloidal gold, electro colloidal silver( minerals that actively and naturally sustain healthy skin)
The Aqua Luna whitening cream has a light texture and slightly off white in colour. There are 30ml in a tube and dispensing is easily without unnecessary wastage. The directions on the tube indicate to apply on skin surface with dark spot and pigmentation, morning and evening.
It further state to give the product a few weeks to see any results, which is fair. I am glad I do not have a large area to apply and as I can easily control the amount of cream to dispense, I am sure it will last for many months, which is good value for the price of £24.95.
This whitening cream tick many boxes for its natural and organic ingredients.The cream is fragrant free, it takes a few seconds for total absorption and it does not leave a greasy feeling on the skin.
I have not seen any significant lightening of the pigmentation yet. I shall diligently coordinate the use of the Herbal Citrus Fruit exfoliant and the Aqua Luna Whitening pigmentation cream.
I can't rate its efficacy yet but I look forward to seeing some positive results in a few weeks time.
Summary: A natural skin whitening cream
