Advantages: It actually does work - beyond your wildest expectations!!!!, A little goes a long way so should last for a good few months., No need for a separate night cream.
Disadvantages: Smells like something you would normally get on prescription only., Some people might find the packaging a little cheesy/annoying/basic., Pricey when compared to other upmarket beauty brands.
This is my first time writing a review for ANYTHING, so sorry in advance if I leave out any important info. Well, I'll start with my skin 'problems' - I have an oily forehead, dry and flaky patches on my nose and cheeks, large pores on my cheeks, and prone to having reactions to most skincare products. I am also really lazy and can't be bothered with a strict beauty regime. As a result, I am 26 with lines around my eyes, dark bags under my eyes and an uneven/patchy skin tone. I decided enough was enough and that I needed to start cleansing/moisturising etc on a daily basis with decent stuff to try and stop the damage that was obviously being done to my face. I looked around the net to see what was out there and came across the philosophy website. I swallowed all the hype, bought myself a 50g jar of 'Hope in a Jar', and patiently waited for it to arrive.
I bought the regular cream (all skin types) from www.hqhair.com - the only place in the UK where you can buy it on the net - for £30. They do sell a version for extra dry/sensitive skin but in my dash to buy the cream I bought the regular one by mistake. It was delivered about 2 days after ordering. It is a simple white base jar with a black lid, on the lid is written "your skin needs a glass of water not a cup of oil" - cheesy or what!!! I opened the jar and greeted by a cream that looks and smells like Sudocrem. I was quite alarmed until I remembered the cream was developed for medical reasons and was originally used to treat burn victims. HIAJ should be applied 1 to 2 times a day, so multi-tasks as a day and night cream. There is also a claim on the jar that results will be seen after 3 days which I seriously doubted.
I braved the smell and applied it, you only need a small amount and it is instantly absorbed with no greasy residue. Both my dry and oily patches disappeared and my face felt very soft. I went downstairs and my bf commented on how I looked so refreshed and my eyes looked a lot less puffy. Compliments on my skin after only one use - amazing!!! After 3 days, the results were very obvious; an even skin tone, no patches, glowing complexion, marked improvement in the skin around my eyes. I have no reaction to the cream and I reckon it is healing as well as moisturising my skin. I have now been using HIAJ for 5-6 weeks and look/feel like a different person. People comment on how much my skin has improved and I feel confident enough to go out without wearing foundation (unthinkable a few months ago!!). I have at least half a jar left and reckon one jar should last about 3 to 4 months if using twice a day.
All in all, a fantastic miracle worker. I have been totally converted to philosophy products because of the results of this cream. It might seem expensive but if it lasts for 4 months then it costs £7.50 a month for great skin - a bargain really. I would recommend this cream to anyone who wants to have skin with an even, glowing tone, a clear complexion, and a lot less lines. They do sell a separate eye cream but I found that HIAJ works great as an eye cream, so why shell out any extra. Don't be put off by the nasty smell - you get used to it after a while.

- 13/02/05 Excellent first review, not to waffly but with plenty of personal experience and opinion.
In fact, it would be a very good review number 105 as well and I certainly consider it crown-worthy, especially if you add the info suggested by carly pussycat below (texture especially). I would also remove the sentence that says it's your very first one - no need to explain yourself at all.
I am a guide for 'Fashion and Beauty' so I am introducing myslef here. If you have any questions please e-mail me at magdadh@hotmail.com
