Advantages: It's all good.

Disadvantages: Grainy - but then it is an exfoliating product!

I absolutely adore Philosophy products but was pretty wary of trying this due to my sensitive skin. I suspiciously eyed my trial for month(in the Philosophy Baby Steps skin care kit). Eventually one day looking at my dull complexion I threw caution to the wind and I am so so glad I did!

Step 1 of the 2 step kit is the Vitamin C / Peptide Crystals.

These are described on the packaging as micro crystals which help to gently exfoliate the skin. You apply a teaspoon of these to your clean dry skin and then massage them GENTLY over your face for up to a minute. They exude a gorgeously addictive scent of oranges so please do not eat them!! Because my skin is mega sensitive I only apply minimal pressure and have had no problems whatsoever but I guess it is different from person to person.

Step 2 is the Lactic / Salicylic Acid Activating Gel.

Now this is the part that terrified me - I had visions of my face peeling off or my skin burning but please do not worry. Obviously it is always a good idea to exercise common sense when using new products and to test them on a small part of skin first in case of adverse reactions but this product was fine for me.

Anyway, you massage the activator gel onto your fingertips and then in turn apply this activator over the crystals already on your face. This in turn causes a reaction and the mixture heats up and produces a white foam . This indicates that the products are now working and should be left to do their job for 2 - 3 minutes and then rinsed away.

The second I rinsed my face I noticed that my skin looked so much smoother and radiant already and it felt much softer.

I usually wait a while then apply my Philosophy Hope In A Jar moisturiser.

For me this has almost been like a miracle product - and people have commented on how good my skin looks - I feel that it takes a few years off me when I use it - approximately once every 1 / 2 weeks.

Summary: A must have!
