... smell. And it seemed to work well the first time I used it. My skin instantly appeared brighter and softer. So I continued to use it daily for about 5 days. Then after I'd used it one evening, my face began to feel asthough it was burning. I put moisturiser on it, but still it felt asthough it was on fire. About half an hour later, it began to cool down and I went to look in the mirror. All looked fine, so I went to sleep. The next morning, I woke up to find my face bright red and covered in red blotches. I had to layer m...more

Crowned Review Philosophy Purity Made Simple: It's my Philosophy! (998 words)
by - written on 19/10/09 (Very useful, 152 readings)
Rating:

I have always tried to follow a strict cleanse, tone and moisturise routine and for that reason I have tried a great deal of different products and I do change them around as there are always new products coming onto the market and this review is of the latest one I purchased. ==== Who are Philosophy ==== Philosophy was created in 1996 by a lady called Christina Carlino with over thirty years experience in the skin care business. Her first company was called Biomedic and this was a medically based skin care line distributed to plastic surgeons and dermatologists. The idea for Philosophy was born when she wanted to create something that ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Simple... To Burn Your Skin (488 words)
by - written on 24/11/09 (Very useful, 4 readings)
Rating:

I first got this product as my free gift when I signed up to a subscription of Vogue. In the shops, it's expensive, expensive by my standards anyway, so to get it free was a huge bonus, as otherwise I would have never tried this product. When it arrived in the post, I was having a fairly bad skin week, and was in need to a decent cleanser. So I thought I'd been saved... So, I followed what it said on the bottle. Rub a generous amount of the product into your skin (either damp or dry), and it dissolves dirt and make-up. It can even be used to remover eye make-up. It doesn't smell overpowering or to chemically like some other products, it actually had quite an ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Philosophy Purity Made Simple: Purity made simple - simply really good (374 words)
by - written on 22/10/09 (Very useful, 8 readings)

I first came across philosophy on QVC, I fell for the sales pitch and got hope in a jar and loved it! After recommending it to friends and family my mum got me this product for Christmas - thanks mum! Purity made simple is a cream type wash off cleanser; you can use it on dry or damp skin. I must admit I'm really impressed with it. My skin is slightly tricky and easily upset, I have combination skin that doesn't need much of an excuse to breakout in spectacular fashion so I'm always slightly wary of what I put on it, but having loved hope in a jar so much I decided I'd try it out. I wear liquid foundation with powder over the hop, blusher and bronzer so ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Lovely to use, leaves skin clean and supple (355 words)
by - written on 15/05/09 (Very useful, 16 readings)

I'm a fan of this stuff, let's get that out of the way first! Purity Made Simple is a facewash style cleanser - you apply to damp skin, massage, and then rinse. That appealed to me right off, because i just can't get on with cleansing and toning - if a rinse with water isn't involved, i don't feel clean. I'd describe the texture as light cream/gel, with a slight "spa" type scent from the essential oils in it; it doesn't really lather as such. The product includes a number of therapeutic essential oils such as Rosewood, Geranium, Sandalwood, Rosa Damascena and Sage. I'd describe my skin as combination - nose and chin area can be oily, but ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Philosophy Purity Made Simple: An average cleanser with an above average price (1054 words)
by - written on 25/08/08 (Very useful, 174 readings)

About a month or so ago, I bought a set of Philosophy products from QVC as part of a special offer they were doing. I only really wanted one product from the selection - the Hope in a Jar moisturiser - but looked at the other things as a bonus, and a great way of trying products I wouldn't normally be able to convince myself to spend that much money on! One of the products included was the Purity Made Simple cleanser, described by Philosophy as a 'one-step facial cleanser.' It has a 4-in-1 formula and states that it 'can be used in place of your make-up remover, eye make-up remover, facial cleanser and toner'. It promises to melt away make-up and deep clean ...  Read the complete review
