Advantages: Time effective, Cost effective and a Clean happy face.
Disadvantages: Its not the cheapest.
I have always tried to follow a strict cleanse, tone and moisturise routine and for that reason I have tried a great deal of different products and I do change them around as there are always new products coming onto the market and this review is of the latest one I purchased.
==== Who are Philosophy ====
Philosophy was created in 1996 by a lady called Christina Carlino with over thirty years experience in the skin care business.
Her first company was called Biomedic and this was a medically based skin care line distributed to plastic surgeons and dermatologists. The idea for Philosophy was born when she wanted to create something that would bridge the gap between what was available in doctors offices and the beauty counter and Philosophy was born.
==== Packaging ====
Philosophy is well known by its style of packaging and I wanted to mention this as it really forms the idea behind Philosophy and obviously its a great marketing tool as well.
All the bottles and packaging for the products use childlike images and lower case writing and they keep their bottles very plain and the reason for this is to make skin care simple and effective and uncomplicated, most of the bottles have a lovely script on them with a feel good message pampering your mind and soul as well as your skin and body.
==== The product=====
Purity The one stop facial cleanser comes in a clear bottle and the cleanser inside is a very pale lemon colour.
Its states that it is a one stop facial cleanser that can be used in place of your cleanser, eye makeup and toner some it will save you time and money which is a great thing.
It is formulated for all skin types and deep cleans pores, it also states that it hydrates your skin as it dissolves your makeup.
==== Texture and Scent ====
The texture of the cleanser is quite soft, its not a hard cream and this makes it very easy to apply and move around your skin. It has a very fresh scent and they beat way I can describe it is to say that it smells really clean and slightly like a spring garden but it is not overpowering and disappears when it is washed off.
==== How I use it====
Obviously you can use it how you wish but this is the way that I apply it.
====Eyes====
The bottle has a little flip lid and you squeeze the bottle to dispense the amount you require.
I tend to do my eyes first, the reason for this is that if you apply it all over and remove it I find that I still have eye makeup halfway down my face.
Put the cream into the palms of your hand, if you are wearing a lot of eye makeup I recommend about a five pence piece size and with your index finger gently glide the cream onto your eyes, use a gentle smoothing action but do not rub, keep your eyes closed and wait for twenty seconds to allow the cleanser to dissolve and then with a damp cotton wool pad sweep it over the eye while closed and then open your eyes and with gentle strokes do the same underneath your eyes.
====Face ====
Apply the cleanser to the face using upwards strokes I recommend you do this to slightly damp skin as it helps the cleanser sink into your skin and using upwards stokes allows you to really get a deep cleanse. Massage gentle into the skin for sixty seconds and then you can either wash away with warm water or again use a warm damp cotton wool ball to remove all traces of the cleanser before moisturizing your skin as normal.
==== The Results ====
I have to say that I found that my skin did feel very clean after using the product and my skin looked as though it had had a very deep clean.
I found that my eye makeup did actually dissolve and came off easily and it was not down to have to rub my skin quite hard as I have done with previous eye makeup removers.
The only time it did not work as well was when i was wearing waterproof mascara and I found that If I left the cleanser on my eyes for an extra twenty seconds it did then come off easily.
My face makeup which was foundation, bronzer and blusher removed really well and I also notice that the cotton wool pads were covered in a lot more makeup than I found with other cleaners and it was also visible to see the days dirt and oils on the cotton wool ball even if I had no makeup on.
==== My Conclusion ====
I think that this is a great all in one product and it is time effective as you are only using one product instead of three and its cost effective and as I never seem to have enough money or time it was great for me!.
If you wear a lot of makeup its a great way of removing all traces of makeup without the task involving lots of scrubbing and rubbing to your skin.
My skin is dry/combination and I find that it is very soothing to my skin and does not seem to upset or strip the natural oils in my skin.
==== Availability and Cost =====
Philosophy can be purchased in large department stores and online, QVC also stock philosophy and quite often have special offers on in the run up to christmas.
Depending on where you purchase it the cost is around £16.00
Summary: A great quick way to remove your mask everyday.
