Advantages: posh looking container
Disadvantages: made me come out in a red rash - very sore
I was wondering through Boots one day and was given a sample of this 'magic' anti aging treatment. It is very light and a sort of caramel colour. i used my tiny sample which lasted a week and I felt it did seem to be reducing my wrinkled forehead so I popped back to Boots to treat myself. I asked the assistant for some 'Prevage' and she was very attentive and chatty, offering me other things to try. She then told me how much this was going to cost.......... £150. I was stunned, I thought it might be £50 or so but not this much. Needless to say I hurriedly made apologies and slunk out feeling very small.
Not to be discouraged I then went hunting on line to see if I could find this treasure for less money. I trawled Ebay and eventually found some for £60. Sounds abargain compared to Boots price but still very expensive. Anyway I was now convinced that at this price I have to look younger by the day. You don't need much just a small spot on the lines then moisturize as usual with your normal moisturiser.
The product comes in a snazzy looking silver bottle with pump action dispenser covered with a clear lid. this bottle is then packed in a see through plastic hard plastic case. It looks classy and expensive with the product name embossed up the side and simple black 'anti aging treament' wrtten in smaller letters at the bottom. On the reverse are instructions in about 6 languages in writing so small that nobody needing this product will be able to read!! I had to get a magnifying glass to read it.
The instructions say' Test usage: apply asmall amount to the inside of your arm for at least 3 consecutive days. Discontinue use and consult a physician if irritation or rash appears.'
A bit late I feel if you have already shelled out £150 and find that you are allergic. No warning is given prior to reading this very small print on the back.
The bottle contains 1.7fl oz or 50ml so is not a huge amount for the price. The Scientists claim 'this revolutionary cosmeceutical treatment contains Idebenone, currently the most effective antioxidant* for addressing the visible signs of aging when compared to other anti aging ingredients like alpha lipoic acid, kinetin, vitamin C, vitamin E, and coenzyme Q10. they state it helps maintain collagen levels in skin so skin looks firmer and resilient .
I bought my bottle and used it as advised. I'm not convinced I look much younger after finishing the entire bottle but I still felt that if it cost this much it must be good so having finised this bottle I decided to continue the regime to see if the gradual improvement would continue.
I trawled the internet and managed to find another bottle on Ebay again.A tester bottle but new, unused and in every way the same as that sold in the shops.
I am now about half way through this bottle and have developed an allergy to it. It makes my skin raw and very sore. I was putting it on my forehead wrinkles and also on the two lines either side of my mouth that appear when I smile . I'm sure they look okay when I am smiling but they look like lines and make me look old when I am not. About a month ago I ended up with red lines down either side of my mouth and cracks at the corners of my lips. My eyes were red and swollen too. It took me a long time to work out what was and by process of elimination I concluded that it was the Prevage. I stopped using it and gradually everything got better. I did a test one night and lo and behold - red again.
So... in conclusion. I would test the product with samples first if you can as it is very expensive to 'test' at home as they suggest. I'm not sure what would happen if you took it back to Boots or Debenhams and said you were allergic to it. No chance if you buy it on Ebay although it is a smaller outlay.
I am not totally convinced that it made much difference to my wrinkles. Nobody came up to me and commented on how much younger I looked so..... maybe I don't.
