Advantages: Very effective

Disadvantages: None

:: Introduction ::

I've first seen the Purederm range at beauty discounter Beauty Base in Ealing Broadway, London and because until now I haven't found a truly working nose strip treatment, I gave them a go. The range is widely available at chemists and online too and all
products tend to have the same £2.99 price.

:: The packaging ::

The nose strips come in a pack of six (or 8 when on promotion) in a carton box donning the Purederm logo in white and red colour. Each sachet contains 1 strip for a single treatment.

:: What it claims it does ::

* Instantly cleans clogged pores

* Removes blackheads

* Larger size for better fit

:: Apperance and application ::

The strip is a small pad with a shiny surface on one side that's protected with a transparent foil you remove before application. It has a faint chemical smell of glue. You apply the shiny side of the strip on a thoroughly (dripping) wet nose. This is because the glue on the strip is activated by water, without it it will not stick and do its job.

The strip will dry and harden in a few minutes and stick really well. To remove it, just pull gently, it will not hurt. Do not use on broken or blemished skin however.

:: Using it on the chin ::

For some reason my chin tends to host more enlargened and clogged pores than my nose so even if this product isn't called Deep Cleansing Chin Strip, I had to try it. Although the shape is better designed for noses, when I applied it to my chin, pressed and smoothed it, it was quite a near fit. Since then, I always go double, whenever I clean the nose area, my chin gets the same treatment as well.

:: What it really does ::

* Instantly cleans clogged pores 5 / 5

Having removed the strips after the recommended 15 or so minutes (I sometimes leave it on for almost half an hour for a really deep cleansing), the pores appear clean and greatly reduced. The proof is the used strip that's full of blackhead build up perched on its surface. Just like in that old annoying Garnier Nose Strip advert - with the exception that this is real!

* Removes blackheads 4 / 5

After the treatment, my blackheads seemed to have been largely lifted and cleaner though my - cleaned - pores were still visible and kind of open afterwards so make sure you rinse off the residue with a splash of cold water to close the pores and prevent them from filling up with dirt too soon.

* Leaves skin smooth and refreshed 5 / 5

That's a claim that the product doesn't even make, it goes without saying, cleaning the pores and getting rid of the black heads will mean smoother texture and refreshed complexion. I make sure I do the treatment at the weekend, when I do my big face clean of the week then finish up with an exfoliating treatment. Another plus is that the hardened chin and nose area are now softened so any exfoliating treatment will benefit from that and will further enhance its work.
complexion.

:: Conclusion ::

Overall, an impressive little treatment, that works fast and does an excellent job. Absolutely recommended to use on a weekly basis if you have sensitive - dry skin (which means somewhat less blackheads). If you have oily skin and suffer from more blackheads, the product recommends a bi-weekly usage with keeping three days in between treatments.

:: Price / Where to Buy ::

£2.99 per packet at chemists or online (e.g. fragrancedirect.co.uk).

Thanks for reading.
