Advantages: Cheap, work well
Disadvantages: Not mega absorbent and are small
One thing I really do get through a lot of in my life is cotton wool! I remove my make up with conventional cleansers and toners, use it for removing nail varnish and a whole host of other things and day to day uses. Cos I use so much I tend to spend a fortune but with this purchase I don't mind paying a little more because I know the need for quality in this area!
However I saw this in my local Sainsbury's and for the price it costs simply thought if for other use it'd probably be ok for nail varnish removal so grabbed a bag to try!
The Packaging....
Large clear plastic bag with a section of white and orange colour on the front and on that in white and orange writing I'm told it is Sainsbury's Basics 100 Cotton Wool Balls, Cotton balls, Soft All Round Usage and there are 3 drawn on circles representing the cotton wool drawn on there. On the back of the bag (this time in all small black writing) I'm told a bit about the product and given safety instructions, contact details for Sainsbury's are given, I'm told to bin the product rather than flushing it after use and finally there is a bar-code on there. Simple bag, looks economy but does the job.
A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Bag....
Sainsbury's 'Basics' 100% pure cotton wool balls are soft, gentle and absorbent. Ideal for all your beauty and family needs.
The Balls....
Small, white and fluffy cotton wool! Quite bouncy, these are actually rather good. Ok you do have to be careful when using liquid on or with them because they're not mega absorbent or anything but they work well enough for an economy product.
I find them particularly good at nail varnish removal as I anticipated, make up removal just takes rather alot of balls but again they're suitable for most things as they are not awful quality.
Verdict....
Not alot I can really say about these! They are robust enough, economy but value for money. They are not cheap in the way they rip or fall apart of leave a nasty trail of fluff anywhere and me, well I'd buy them again for sure. If you pacifically want cotton wool for removing heaps of make up though I'd give these a miss!
Not bad, not great but work well enough and are fine on delicate skin (in my opinion!).
Only available in Sainsbury's stores priced at 48p a bag usually but at the time of writing this review they are on offer for 31p.
Summary: Ok for some uses!
