Advantages: Cheap, don't make a mess when using them

Disadvantages: Too small, not thick enough

When it comes to cotton wool it's something I really do get through an awful lot of on a weekly basis. I use it so much for removing nail polish, make up, all sorts of things really. The other day I had a really nasty fall and needed to clean up cuts and grazes with cotton wool, so me I always have a fair amount of the stuff around me as I'm a clumsy clot lol!

The Packaging....

Slightly different as depicted on the review photograph on the top of this page although it is still a clear plastic bag with a drawstring to the top of it. On the font there is a light oblong section of turquoise colour and on that in dark turquoise and white writing I'm told that they are Sainsbury's Cotton Pads '100 Cosmetic Cotton Wool Pads' which are 100% pure cotton. On the back of the pack (now all in small black writing) I'm, told a bit about the product and warnings are listed, contact details for Sainsbury's are given, I'm told to bin them after using them and not to flush them and finally there is a bar-code on there. Simple looking pads stacked in a flexible plastic tube effect and I do like the drawstring to the top of it which is easy to open and close and keep the pads fresh.

A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Packaging....

Sainsbury's 100% cotton wool pads are soft, gentle and absorbent. These pads are low fleecing and are ideal for contact lens wearers. Ideal for all your beauty and family needs. Ideal for make-up removal and skin cleansing.

The Pads....

Round, white, low fleecy and woolly (as promised) they are quite small and you can see layers of the cotton through the middle. Bouncy and soft though they are not really. I mean they are soft to the touch but just because they are slightly cushioned to the middle of them doesn't make them any more softer. Or robust!

Of course it depends what your using these for as to how they perform. I find they fall apart with cleansers and toners (face) and they are too small to work with and tend to scrunch up rather than stay flat which means to use these I need to use quite a few of them.

Tending cuts, grazes and wounds, again depends on how much absorbency you need. The good thing however about using these on injuries is that they are not too fleecy so bits don't come off where you don't need them to i.e in cuts causing an infection etc.

Verdict....

As I have said it depends on what you want to use these for. I don't personally find these absorbent enough and for removing make-up and nail polish I find I get through far too many of them which isn't just a pain and time consuming but it's also not all that economical of course! For smallish jobs sure they're ok but I can't rave over these and will in future be buying much bigger pads!
