Advantages: Leaves skin really clean with no irritation
Disadvantages: Skin did not feel as silky and smooth as I would have liked
I've never been a soap and water type of girl when it comes to washing my face. Since being young I have always used some form of face wash as I have pretty sensitive skin and have had many a break out or red rash after using less sensitive products or soap and water. Therefore when I seen Simple Foaming Facial Wash I was confident the product would suit my needs as the Simple brand is suitable for more sensitive skin like my own.
***Packaging and Claims***
The Simple Foaming Facewash comes in a 150ml tube shaped bottle which stands up and at the top has a green flip lid. The colours on the bottle are pale green and white fitting in with the usual Simple brand colours. Like all of the Simple products the claims on the packaging are that the product contains no perfumes, no colours and is 100% soap free. The claims on the packaging are:
* Dermatologically tested and approved
*pH balanced
* Suitable for sensitive skin
* Contains Pro- Vitamin B5 and Vitamin E
From the packaging this sounded perfect for my sensitive skin and I was hopeful that my skin would be left clean and refreshed without any irritation.
***Price***
For a 150ml bottle/ tube I paid £2.79 in Boots which I thought was averagely priced. Not the most expensive face wash I could have opted for aimed towards sensitive skin but not the cheapest face wash either so I had high hopes for this face wash . Tesco currently have this product on offer for £1.79 which I think is much better value for money.
***Application and Results***
I used the foaming face wash in the morning before I applied my make up. Before I applied the product to my face I rinsed it with water so it was wet.
I applied the product to my hand first (an amount about the size of a 10p piece) and was surprised as the product is thick in consistency, using this is not the case for "sensitive products". This is a creamy white coloured liquid and when it was applied to my face it made a real lather; much more than is achieved with most other face washes. The face wash is perfume free and as a result has no real scent to it. I think this has a very light fragrance very much like freshly washed cotton but this is a very light scent. For those that like a scented face wash product than this is not for you.
Once I had washed my face with the product massaging it in circles I rinsed my face with water. The product very easily rinsed off my face with water and immediately after patting dry with a towel my face felt very clean. I liked that my face did not have a greasy coating left on it like some facewashes seem to do but I did feel although my face felt clean it did not have a super refreshed feel to it.
After use my skin did not really feel much different to touch. I personally would have like to be left with more of a smooth and silky touch to it. After using the Simple facewash on a number of occasions I did not achieve this soft touch feel to it like I would have hoped.
A major advantage of the Simple product is that it is very kind and gentle on sensitive skin. My face was not left feeling at all irritated in particular around the sensitive skin on my eye area. I also did not end up with any breakouts of spots after using this product as my skin was left with no excess oil but also the facewash did not dry it out.
***Overall***
This is not a bad face wash by any means in fact it is very good for those with sensitive skin. However I did not feel that it was worth the £2.79 that I paid for it as although my skin felt clean after use, it was not left silky smooth like how I would expect from using a face wash, especially as this is not the cheapest product on the market. My demands are obviously more complex than this Simple product can achieve......
Summary: A reasonably effective face wash for those with sensitive skin
