Advantages: Light consitency soaks in well, reasonably priced, no hidden nasties.
Disadvantages: No SPF
The skin on my body, namely my arms and my legs can be quite sensitive at times, I'm prone to Eczema flare-ups, but the skin on my face seems to fine, taking more or less anything I put on it, (probably due to it being so damn oily at times!) so for that reason I've never really been drawn to Simple products as in my mind there's been no need. I dabbled with them when I was younger but wanted abit more excitement in my product and so have tried everything from Clarins to Decleor to Oil of Olay and back again, but now I realise that it doesn't have to be all singing and all dancing to be a good product.
I still probably wouldn't have tried this product if I hadn't have been having a look round Lidl whilst waiting for my Dad to finish browsing. I spotted a Simple travel pack on the shelf which amongst other things contained this Hydrating Light Moisturiser for only £4, so I thought "why not, I need some new moisturiser and I suppose this will be as good as any!"
I was right it was, in fact better than alot of more expensive brands! It's a light gel like consistency which is white in colour and obviously being Simple has no smell at all. It absorbs into your skin virtually straight away and is perfect for combination/oily skin, people with dry skin possibly might need something a little bit heavier, although it might be ok in the summer months. It provides a perfect base for make up, instead of the make up sitting on top of the skin and looking caked on which it can do when put on top of some heavier creams, this only serves to help make your base look flawless and natural and also seems to make your make up last longer too. It also serves as an excellent night cream too, making your skin strokeably soft and fresh looking in the morning.
Another thing I like about this moisturiser is that because of it's thicker consitency, it doesn't pour into a massive puddle into your hand (you could tip it upside down and none comes out, you have to give it a little squeeze) so therefore doesn't dispense any more product than you need.
Obviously you all know the Simple blurb by now, no perfume, no colour, dermatologically tested blah de blah de blah! But this also contains Pro Vitamin B5 which restores, softens and smoothes your skin and also Vitamin E which moisturises and improves skin condition, but also this product (infact all Simple skincare) contains no animal derived ingredients which of course means it's perfect for Vegan's to use too!
One thing though that I would say marks this product down, is it's lack of SPF. I read somewhere that it has a UV filter, but I like my lotion to have at least an SPF of 15, even in the winter months, so although I use this now and again during the day, it's been mainly relegated to night time use. So for this I'm deducting a star.
It's a pretty un-impressive looking bottle to be honest, but as I always say, it's what's on the inside that counts! But even though it's not the flashiest looking bottle on the shelf, the green and white colour scheme serves the purpose it is intended for, to make it look simple and fresh with no added nasties.
This retails at about £3, although you might be able to find it even cheaper in Savers or Body Care, but even at £3 it's still a bargain price!
I have to say that even that I have over looked this moisturiser in the past, I am really impressed with it and would purchase it again in the future.
Summary: A simple un-impressive looking product that simply does it's job!
