Advantages: Works well, not too expensive

Disadvantages: Old lady smell, not as good as No7

A few days ago I noticed that I was running low on facial wipes, and since I don't own any liquid makeup remover, and didn't want to run out of wipes and not be able to take my makeup off one night, I popped down to Boots in order to buy some more. I would have normally gone for my usual Boots cucumber wipes (which I reviewed ages ago if you're interested), but on that particular day I happened to have my Dooyoo hat on, and realised that if I bought a pack of wipes I hadn't tried before, then I would have another beauty item to review. That thought, along with the fact that my usual wipes have been drying my face out a bit too much recently, led me to scour the shelves for something a bit different. Having recently read a handful of positive reviews on Soap & Glory products, I had a look around this company's section in Boots, and found their 'Off Your Face' facial wipes, or as they call them, cleansing cloths. With 25 wipes for less than £4 ,they weren't too bad a price, and my Dooyoo hat told me that my review of this product would offset almost half of the cost, so I popped them in my basket and happily bought them.

Of course, I'm simplifying my decision process slightly, as one of my other reasons for buying these cloths apart from their reviewability was the attractive packaging. The packet these cloths are contained in is similar to that of many other facial wipes: plastic and soft main body, with a hard plastic clasped flap, which you open to remove the wipes. Anyone who is not familiar with facial wipes may recognise the same design from baby wipe packages, as they are almost identical. On the hard plastic top the packaging says 'Off Your Face' in a kitschy font that you will find on many other products in the Soap & Glory range, along with the information that these wipes are 'Infused with Poreshrink-RS', which I take to be something that helps to minimize your pores. The rest of the packaging contains more information about the wipes, such as its ingredients, and the fact that they must be used within 3 months of opening. The background of the packet is pink with swirly almost flowery designs, which is attractive to look at and nicely girly.

Using the wipes is fairly straightforward: remove one from the pack, reseal the top, and rub the wipe over your face to remove any makeup and grime which has accumulated there. The packaging says that if you press down slightly harder than normal, these cleansing cloths have exfoliating qualities, which is an added bonus. I find that I only ever need one wipe to remove a full face of makeup, which is convenient and means that there is no added wastage.

In general, I quite like these facial wipes, as they do remove all of my makeup fairly effortlessly. I do, however, have a few problems with them. Firstly, however hard I press down on my face, I have never noticed any exfoliation occurring whilst wiping my face. Secondly, my face often feels dry after use, and I will normally put on moisturiser afterwards, whereas with some other face wipes I don't have to do this. Thirdly, the smell, while not unpleasant at all, smells almost exactly like my grandma's bathroom after she had been using facial and bath products. This shouldn't be a bad thing for most people, but the fact that it has the same smell as other products which an old woman would use does put me off slightly, as I myself am only 19 years old.

So in conclusion, while these face wipes are good for removing makeup, I won't be buying them again. It was definitely worth trying them, as I got a new review out of them, and also it makes a change from the cheap Boots ones I had been buying. I will use the rest of the wipes I have left, and then move onto another brand, so watch this space for my next facial wipe review!

Summary: Not a bad facial wipe, but not fantastic.

I don't really rate facial wipes in general but had been wondering what these were like. Think I'll give a miss - thanks!
