Advantages: Nice minty smell, multi-tasking
Disadvantages: Too harsh for some sensitive skins
If you've not read many of my other reviews, let me tell you now, I love the Soap & Glory range. Developed by scarily young looking 40 year old Marcia Kilgore (she must be doing something right!), the lady behind the swanky Bliss range, Soap & Glory aim to make high quality products at affordable prices. Having used some of the products from the uber-expensive Bliss range, I would say the Soap & Glory products compare very favourably to the Bliss range and in fact tend to use many of the same ingredients, so you know you're looking at a quality product when you buy Soap & GLory.
Scrub Your Nose In It is an exfoliating face scrub intended for combination and oily skin and is designed to reduce pores and eliminate oily patches and blemishes. It contains tiny micro-granules which exfoliate the skin and also contains peppermint to refresh, as well as fruit acids for additional exfoliation. It's packaged in a 125ml baby pink squeezy tube with the typical Soap & Glory retro pictures and slogans.
The scrub is a pale blue colour and is a thick consistency. When you squeeze it onto your fingers, you can instantly smell the peppermint. It's not overpowering but is enough to perk you up in the morning. To use, you simply wet the skin with warm water to open the pores, apply a small amount of the scrub to your fingertips (about a 5p size should do) and massage into the skin gently.
The directions instruct that this should only be used on a damp T-zone (Forehead, nose and chin) as these are the most oily areas. I would agree with this due to the effect it had on my skin. I found the micro granules were quite harsh on my skin - more so than any other exfoliator I've used. Perhaps this is due to the fact that they are so tiny and so many of them, but I found the scrub slightly uncomfortable to use. I get a slight tingling sensation from applying this which is quite nice and reassures you that it's really cleansing. Once it's rinsed off, I find my skin feels really cleansed and soft, but it is certainly a much harsher scrub than my usual exfoliator, Origins Never a Dull Moment, and I definitely need to reach for the moisturiser after using this.
The directions also state that this can be used as a face mask - you apply in the same way but simply leave it for 3 minutes before rinsing off. I find it works well as a mask and leaves the skin feeling refreshed and very clean and the pores around the T-zone are refined and far less noticeable.
I would recommend this product if your skin is really oily, but for mine, which right now is better described as combination, I found it a bit too harsh. I certainly don't feel happy using it anywhere other than my T-zone as it's just not necessary. This is one of the few Soap & Glory products I've used that I've not loved, and I suspect it's because it's just not intended for me and my type of skin. It's good value at £6.85 for 125ml and if you do suffer from oily skin definitely give you a try, but if your skin is easily irritated or a bit dry, steer clear!
Summary: Suffer from oily skin? This may be the one for you...
