Advantages: Effective, economical and fragrant.
Disadvantages: None I can think of.
I am impressed with the performance of St Ives Swiss Formula Apricot Blemish Fighting Scrub. It really does appear to do it what it states on the tube.
I have a combination skin type with open pores on my 'T-zone', and drier skin on my cheeks. I usually develop one or two nasty blemishes on my face at a certain time once a month (I thought, probably due to hormones); no matter what I do, ingest, or applied to my face seemed to prevent them, but this scrub has! I normally only use shower gel once a day (minimum) to wash my face whilst showering, therefore I am convinced any change in my skin is due to the scrub, that I have been using once a day during my shower.
The scrub has a pleasant apricot aroma which isn't overpowering. The viscosity is thick enough that I can easily squeeze a small, controlled amount onto my finger. It sits in a blob on my finger and doesn't run all over the place like some other products! This is a good feature for those on a budget as you don't accidentally waste it by it running everywhere. The granules in the scrub do feel larger than other scrubs I have used, but I like this fact, they don't feel too large and you know they are there, and crucially where you have applied them on your face! They don't 'disappear' quickly as I have found with other products. I rub it quite hard and vigorously onto my face and it doesn't hurt or scratch my face. It rinses off easily with warm water. I notice after rinsing and drying my face, my skin feels fresher, softer and cleaner than if I'd purely used shower gel. Although after 10 minutes my skin starts to feel dry and tight; so I always apply moisturiser as the packaging advises you to.
My fiance and I have both been using this scrub once daily for at least 40 days and the 150ml tube is still over half full. The 12 month shelf life may well be necessary if only one person is using it! The purchase price in May 2009 is £2.36 from a well known UK supermarket; some reveiwers have found it cheaper elsewhere.
The packaging is attractive and sensible with a white opaque tube which stands on its cap. A band of apricot colour and pictures of apricots circles the middle of the tube. The type is clear and easy to read in a medium/dark blue colour, with a picture of three mountain peaks in blue shades at the opposite end to the cap.
Considering all the positives; it's effective, economical, physchologically satisfying, with a pleasant fragrance and keenly priced, I don't see why anyone shouldn't try this product at least once.
Summary: Does exactly what it states on the tube.
