Advantages: helps clean face

Disadvantages: dries face

Stridex is a product intended to help clean skin and control and get rid of acne. These days you can get it alcohol free, however it still appears to cause skin to become dry and itchy so its best to not overuse it in a day. It claims to be non-irritating but it can be depending on your skin type.

I usually put it on my face right before I go to sleep. I've also tried using the sensitive version which includes aloe however that still doesn't really rehydrate the face. I do feel some dryness at times.

In terms of results, its very mixed for me. I personally seem to find I get faster and better results with products like Clearasil or Clean & Clear face wash as opposed to these Stridex moist pads. These days I really use them in tandem with one another. I'll use the face wash after a shower then use the Stridex pads.

The container has 55 pads and you need to make sure you keep it tightly sealed otherwise the pads will dry out and be useless.

The directions give you pretty solid indication of how to use the product and what to be cautious off. It says,

"*cleanse the skin thoroughly before apply medication
*use the pad to wipe the entire affected area
*repeat with a clean pad as necessary to remove remaining traces of dirt
*because excessive drying of the skin may occur, start with one appication daily, then gradually increase to two to three times daily as needed or as directed by a doctor
*if bothersome dryness or peeling occurs, reduce application to once a day or every other day"

I actually purchased this product when it was on sale. I've used it in the past but it really doesn't seem to have improved much outside of being alcohol free. Would I buy it again? I doubt it. Like I said, I get better results from Clearasil.

Summary: You may find better alternatives to Stridex.
