T-Zone Tea Tree Oil Spot Treatment Stick:
*********************************
What is it?
********
A small bottle tube of liquid mixture that contains tea tree oil to treat spots and blemishes.
How do I use it?
*************
I also make sure my skin has been cleansed and dried before I use it. The mixture comes in a glass tube bottle with a roller ball on the end. When placed on the skin, apply gentle pressure and smooth over area, the tea tree mixture will automatically be released by this action. I usually use this on in the evening so that it can be left to work through the night. The liquid dries almost immediately, so there will be no apparent grease or residue left on the skin.
Does it work?
***********
I have found that it helps my spots a little. It has a very nice soothing sensation, my skin also felt tingly and it seemed as if it was immediately working on my spots.
However, I didn't really feel that this worked as well as other products that I have tried - that is, it took longer for my spots to clear and dry up - this was especially for my more 'severe' spots.
I am also a little wary of its effectiveness after several uses. This is just my theory and opinion. It is mainly to do with the roller ball tip - it is applied directly to the skin where there is bacteria already present from the spots. As the ball rotates to release the liquid, it also comes into contact with the bacteria which, in theory is disinfected by the mixture - however, a lot of the germs - whether dead or living will be collected by the ball and rotated back into the tube - although in there most of the bacteria will be killed anyway, it will reach a point where the solution will become saturated - i.e. the liquid will lose it's effectiveness. I have found this to be so in practice, whether it's down to psychological influences is pretty subjective, but I use it only occasionally now as I often need something stronger for my spots anyway.
Cost?
*****
Generally around £3.99 for a 10ml stick bottle, I got mine from Superdrug, though they are also available from Boots and other good health and beauty stores. I think it's a bit too expensive for treating minor problems but of course, there are more expensive sticks out there.
Afterthoughts:
***********
Definitely a good one for small minor spot problems used on a short term basis. However, with bigger real spots, it may be better to go for something stronger - like the essential Tea Tree Oil itself. On the ingredients' list, the tea tree oil is listed quite far down, meaning that there is potentially very little of it in proportion to the whole mixture. Therefore using the essential oil itself will be far more effective.
(Note: Tea tee oil is one of the very few oils that can be used undiluted on the skin, though it is still pretty strong. I use it with few problems, however, it can be quite drying. It is always best to test on a small area first.)
Thanks for reading. xx
