Advantages: Does exfoliate and does soften skin

Disadvantages: Is greasy

I love Ted Baker! I own a few items of clothing but I'm particularly fond of the handbags! Sadly though I don't have a disposable income so I have to make do with toiletries and the like, boo hoo! Luckily Boot's stock them and I've been working my way through the range for quite a while now and I feel it's time to review the Ted Baker Sugar Scrub!Ladies.... it's meant to be summer! Ok it may not be just yet but lets hope for some rays at least and prepare our bodies to wow the guys and get pampering!

Why Sugar Scrub?

Well it's a form of exfoliating which is meant to help gently ease off dead skin to leave skin refreshed and more glowing!

The Packaging....

(Exactly as on the review photograph) 300ml plastic round tub which is flipping heavy! lol It's a bright pink pink pot and in white writing I'm told it is Bodywear, Sugar Scrub and the size is stated (as I've listed already). On the back I'm told Wear With Pride, Treat With Care: Take care of the skin you were born in with Ted Bakers Bodywear range. This Sugar Scrub gently exfoliates, cleanses and purifies your skin leaving it softer, smoother and brighter. Made in Heaven and then I'm told directions for use which have little diagrams, warnings, ingredients, contact details for Ted Baker and finally I'm told it's tested on humans and that the pot is recyclable. The lid is screw on/screw off and is bright orange on the top in white writing it just says Ted Baker, London. A nice funky looking pot.

Directions For Use....

Scoop a generous amount onto the palm of of your hand and gently massage onto damp skin using circular movements. Rinse off thoroughly with warm water - then enjoy the smoother you. CAREFULLY DOES IT. Do not use on face. Do not apply to damaged or irritated skin. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep out of the reach of children

Me Using It....

Well I always shower first completely using shower gel etc and shaving my legs etc if I wish and the last thing I do is then grab a decent handful of this and apply it in circular motions all over my body on to damp skin as advised. Do not apply to dry skin it hurts and is far to abrasive and greasy!

The scrub itself is white. When you first see it in the tub unused it appears to be slightly shimmery and smooth. When you take out your first handful you'll come to realise that the smoothness is actually grease. When you rub it into your skin you will come to realise that this is a heavy duty sugar scrub and not as gentle as you expect.

It really is fairly abrasive but not in a painful coarse way but you can feel it scrubbing and this is why it's so important to have damp skin. I must reiterate it doesn't hurt at all. Do not over scrub yourself though cos it can scratch and make you red! It is full of coarse sugar which kind of scrubs the skin and melts after rubbing a minute into the skin.

The smell is the most impressive thing about this. It really is highly fragranced and doesn't smell of anything distinctive. I guess I can say it's rather aftershave based and is like an expensive one at that. It isn't fruity or flowery but is extremely strong to the point that after using this no matter what deodorant or perfume I use this does over power it. I love the smell though and this is perfect to wear on a hot summers day instead of perfume! Just be careful if using this not to over power yourself smell wise and I have learnt to use a very lightly fragranced shower gel and a none fragranced deodorant and not to use my beloved body spray.

So when you've used this what happens? Well do make sure you really shower it off. This takes time cos although it doesn't feel sticky it does stick to you to the point that you can feel that you got it all off and then go to towel dry yourself and feel it grating against the towel. So as I say just take the time to make sure you rinse and particularly pay attention to any creases in your body! Under the bust is the worst place! If you don't rinse not only are you left with a bit of the scrub clinging on your body but you are left with alot of grease on you and you feel a bit slimy. The first time I used this I did it in the bath (bad, bad move) and yes when I got out I felt a bit greasy but I ended up with oil slick alley round me bot! I'd only ever use this now in the shower.

Once rinsed off you do feel very, very smooth but there is no mistaking that the grease in the product has done that to you and your not naturally smooth so to speak. You can feel the grease on your skin but once dried you can overlook that for the smooth feeling all over but once again I must stress that it doesn't feel like the scrub itself has polished you it really is just the grease but none the less it does feel nice enough, just don't get it round the nape of your neck as the ends of your hair could get a bit greasy! I do think it exfoliates but I can't really tell after using it to be honest because of how soft my body is left!

Overall....

I have used this once a week now for 3 weeks and overall I believe my skin to look smoother and brighter and in better condition than when I started to use it. I adore the smell but do suggest you have a whiff before buying it. I also wouldn't use this more than once or twice a week. I have very sensitive skin and not once has it irritated me or made me sore. My dry skin on my shins has definitely vanished. I do think if you have oily skin that this wouldn't suit and its probably best suited to dry or/and mature skin.

Personally I love this product and it does make me feel generally cleaner and brighter and whats more I have some small scars on my legs that I feel are not so apparent. Whats even better with this is you really don't need to moisturise after using it as you really would be far too greasy! I like to use this before I go to bed in the main to let me reap its benefits as I sleep!

I bought 2 of these at once for £5.00 a pot in Boot's.

Summary: I decent scrub!
