Advantages: In comparison with other brands, the cotton is reasonable quality. Low price.
Disadvantages: The cotton tip is probably too tightly wound.
What are they?

A pack of cotton wool buds by Tesco.
Special Features?

These cotton buds have been specially designed for cosmetic use, beauty needs and general family care. The buds are made from 100% cotton.
What do I think of them?
*******************
I generally use these for applying make-up and some personal hygiene. I find these quite good, in particular the quality of the cotton is pretty decent, there is no flaking, fleecing or loose bits that are likely to come off during use, the standard is such that the cotton is quite tightly bound around the tip and does not crumble the slightest even when a substantial amount of pressure has been applied.
On the other hand, the tightly bound cotton does have its disadvantages. I find the buds a little difficult to work with when I'm applying make-up. I usually tend to use these with eye make-up, generally when I'm applying eye shadow. As the tip is quite solid, it doesn't really give way when I try to use it to pick up some eye shadow, more than often, I end up digging pits into my smooth layer of eye-shadow on my palette, and so I'm then left with pits and dents.
The buds do help with blending make-up, but again, the tightly bound cotton is not very generous in giving way, and it often does feels as if I'm dragging the tip against my skin, and when you're trying to blend make-up, this can feel quite harsh, especially on the eyes.
The tightly bound cotton tip can be a bit of an issue, because even when you wet it with water, the cotton doesn't really expand or hold much water, and yet again I feel the small tips don't really clean as effectively as I would like them to.
However, for a box containing 200 for only 39p -it's an absolute bargain and they are so much better than a lot of other brands that I have tried.
Thanks for reading, xx

Summary: Better than many other brands.

- 17/04/09 These were excellent for creating Aboriginal artwork with a bunch of Year 6s. There's a novel use for them! |
