Advantages: Very affordable with a good level of absorbancy and thickness.

Disadvantages: There are some defected pads in most packets I buy.

Cotton wool pads are a staple for any woman's beauty stash. There are lots of choices out there with regards to what to use for various jobs. There are cotton wool pleats, there are tissues, there is even toilet roll! But out of everything I have tried, I find that cotton wool pads are the best at most jobs. That includes removing nail polish, which is extremely tricky with anything else, and removing make-up and applying toner. Both of the latter can be managed with tissues, but I find that the tasks are considerably easier to manage using cotton wool pads.

Tesco round cotton wool pads are my favourite for quality to price ratio. They cost 54p for a packet of 100, or £1.06 for a packet of 200. Obviously you can only purchase this particular brand from Tesco.

The pads come packaged in a drawstring plastic wrapper containing 100 pads, that can be pulled tight to close it when not in use. In the packet of 200, there are two of these 100 pad packs together in an outer wrap.

The general quality of these pads is excellent. They are a good thickness that is easy to manipulate, yet highly absorbant. I find that they are very effective at only absorbing a minimal amount of the product I have applied to them, and they allow the majority of my nail polish or make up remover to sit on the top of the pad where it is needed.

The only gripe I have with these is that I sometimes find the occasional incomplete pad in the packet. I find that some of the pads have been cut short during production, and there does not appear to be sufficient quality control to prevent these crescent shaped pads from appearing in the finished product. It is only a small grumble but I think it is worth mentioning given that you believe you are purchasing these in multiples of 100. Actually, I find it is more like 97-98 round pads per packet given that I find 2 or 3 damaged ones in most packs.

For the price though, I cannot complain. I have tried a few different cotton wool products over the years, and these are one of the best when considering the over all quality I get for the price.

I prefer the pads over pleats any day.
