Advantages: Cheap and decent quality
Disadvantages: Too small and not thick enough in my opinion!
When it comes to cotton wool, pads and stuff like that I really do get through them with gusto due to being a make-up wearer and polishing my nails regularly (thus having to often remove it!) but I hate spending out loads on this type of product however I do need decent quality as there nothing a lot worse than using cleansers and toners and them simply saturated the wool or pad and dripping everywhere (particularly nasty when using an oil based eye make up remover, which I do lol) and I don't like to leave behind cotton fibres on my nails to not notice them and coat over them with nail polish leaving me with a dirty brush and a rough textured nail!
I hadn't heard of these before today (but I did read through Mel0611's superb review) and I had a £1.50 off voucher from Tesco to use by today and decided that I'd give these a whirl as I'd just ran out of my usual ones. Who says's reviews on here are not useful eh?!
The Packaging:
These came in a long see through and turquoise plastic tube type of pack with cotton at the top of it to open and close it. On the front I'm told in turquoise writing that they are Tesco Cotton Wool Pads 'Ideal for make-up application, removal and facial cleansing' and that there is an average of 100 pads in a pack and that they are soft and absorbent. On the back of the pack I'm told a little bit more information about the product, warnings and contact details for Tesco are given, the recycle symbol is displayed and finally there is a bar-code on there. Nice enough packaging that doesn't appear cheap and economy and I like the draw string addition to the top of it for ease of use.
A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Pack:
Tesco cotton wool pads are made from soft and absorbent 100% pure cotton, suitable for even the most delicate skin.
The Pads;
Well I' not sure if these are the exact one's that Mel reviewed (her review is under mine lol) cos her sounded larger however these are called the same thing!
So the pad is pure white in colour and round in shape and not very big or thick. It is quite smooth but does have a slight cotton woolness to it's appearance. The whole pad is sealed to the middle of it and by this I mean that other pads I have tried in the past have had a lose and fibrous middle making them 'leak' out fibres and a pain to use. This doesn't it' simply nice and compact though I'm not happy with the size of it to be perfectly honest. This is a bit too small for me for general face cleansing and toning though perfectly fine for using to say remove eye make up and nail polish and generally using on smaller areas.
For general, day-to day use these are fine. They are soft and comfortable to use, don't disintegrate at the thought of being used and are ok for alot of things! I'd happily tend to a cut or a graze with these due to them not leaving fibres anywhere and personally I think they are great value for money but are an economy buy.
Not the best but not the worse I have ever used and they are worth the 54p I paid for them without a doubt though Tesco do need to make them a bit bigger and thicker in my opinion even if they gave us less pads!
Only available in Tesco stores.
Summary: Good value

- 01/09/09 There are larger pads in tesco-in an oval shape, double layered but not sealed at the edges but smooth on the faces. Might be worth a try, I love them! |
