Advantages: Very Effective

Disadvantages: How is it medicated?

During my succession of colds over the Winter period (sorry this is the fifth or sixth review in which i've mentioned that... talk about being an attention seeker!), as well as getting a red nose from an over reliance of Tesco Value Tissues, I also got very sore lips.

After searching the house for ANY sort of lipbalm, and not finding any (God knows what happened to the 'Vasaline Lip-therapy' or 'Tesco Original Lipbalm' which I previously reviewed) I was forced to go and purchase some more from the supermarket. The product I bought was Tesco 'Medicated Lipbalm' which cost 67p for the 4.5g swivel-base container.

The lipbalm is very small and fits easily into a pocket. Even though you don't technically eat it, the product does have a sell by date which is printed on the base of the 'dispenser'. In the case of the one that I purchased, 'January 2011' is the all important figure.

Tesco Medicated Lipbalm', like the 'Original' version, is designed to help moisturise the lips, and also protect against the drying effects of sun, wind and cold. What the product doesn't mention however, is how it is 'medicated'. Does it have antiseptic in it?... a local anaesthetic perhaps...? - it doesn't explain.

The lipbalm applies easily and feels suitably greasy on the mouth. The smell is rather clinical, and when you put it on, it makes your lips feel cold and tingly - a bit like the menthol sensation you get with a product like 'Tiger Balm'.

When I looked at the stats for this particular item on mysupermarket.co.uk, I noticed that they claimed it had (like the 'Original' version) a Factor 15 sun block - but it doesn't mention this on the packaging - so i'm not sure if it's true or not.

Tesco Medicated Lipbalm eased the soreness I was experiencing, and as such, I can't fault the effectiveness of the product. Seeing as it does what it is intended to do, and is cheap to buy at under a pound, I highly recommended this lipbalm - 4/5.

Medical Wanings: Not suitable for children under six years of age.

Right, hopefully that's the last girlie write-up I will do for a while ;) - i'll probably be reviewing a Lush product next...

Summary: Great Product
