Advantages: Low price, great for sensitive skin.

Disadvantages: Need to be a little bit more of a mini wet blanket!

With the recent lovely weather (and thus copious amounts of greeeeasy sun cream & runny make up), I thought it'd be worthwhile investing in some facial wipes.

Normally I tend to go for the better known branded wipes by Simple or Johnson & Johnson, but at 93p for a pack of 25, I thought I'd give the Tesco own brand ones a try.

The Product:

The wipes are in a simple pale green pack with the usual resealable plastic flap in the centre.
The pack states that these wipes are fragrance free, and for those with sensitive skin. It also claims that they're; "dermatologically tested, hypoallergenic, mild & gentle".

These wipes are "specially formulated to gently ease away make up (including waterproof make up), cleanse, tone and moisturise, without upsetting the skin's delicate balance". They are also alcohol free, and recommended for daily use.

Usage:

On fishing a wipe out of the (somewhat small) circular hole in the pack, I find them to be fragrance free as claimed (well - as much as any product containing chemicals can be anyway).

The wipes are a good size, pretty much standard to other facial wipes I've used, and have a smooth texture to them.

When using them to remove make up (including waterproof mascara) & sun cream, I found them fairly effective. A quick wipe did the trick, no scrubbing involved. However, I do feel that if the wipe had a more textured surface, it would make them even more effective at cleansing.

My biggest gripe with this product was that although moist, the wipes do tend to dry out very quickly when removing make up. They could do with having a bit more moisture in them to make each wipe go further, as some days I would have to use 2 wipes to remove all traces of make up etc.

I'm not sure about the 'tone & moisturise' claim on the pack; my skin didn't feel particularly toned or moisturised, but in the same instance they didn't dry out my skin either.

Conclusion:

Although I find other branded wipes give a better result, I do feel that for less than half the price of these brands, these wipes are a good deal.

They didn't aggravate or sting my skin, and although not particularly moisturising, I'm sure most people have a separate moisturiser that they use daily anyway (I know I have about 3 or 4)!

For this price I think it is worth having a pack, even if just to use to take to the beach or on a day out. They are a lot kinder to your skin than general 'wet-wipe' style brands, and aren't going to break the bank either!

Summary: Great for the price.
