Advantages: Effective moisturiser for dry skin, can be used as a day / night / aftersun cream.

Disadvantages: None - Possibly more expensive than other products....but it works!

After my recent holiday in the sun I noticed that my face was, understandably, a little drier than usual. I am already a fan of the Body Shop's Hemp Hand Protector, so thought I'd try this face cream which cost £7.80 for 50ml.

Its ingredients include allantoin, panthenol, shea butter, beeswax and hemp seed oil which, according to the Body Shop's website "has an unusually high concentration of essential fatty acids that help to repair the skin's moisture barrier thus helping to restore moisture, smoothness and suppleness."

Like the other products in the range, the tub is green and black and displays the trademark leaf and, although this may not look particularly feminine, it isn't unattractive. In addition, the gender-neutral packaging is an advantage in my opinion as it has encouraged the men in my family (notably my older brother) to listen to my advice and to try it!

The label on the front of the tub promises "powerful moisturisation, protection and repair" and that it is suitable for "extremely dry skin" and I have to say that it doesn't disappoint.

Now I don't have dry skin as a rule so I don't need to use this every day or even every few days. On average, I only use this a couple of times a week as and when necessary - sometimes in the morning before applying make-up but I have also found it to be an effective night cream and aftersun cream.

When you open the pot and see the light green cream, it does look rather thick and heavy and has a slight, earthy fragrance. However, I don't think that it smells quite as strongly as other products in the same range and, actually, I quite like it!

Because it is quite thick and creamy, you need to be careful not to apply too much as, if you do, it can feel very heavy on your skin.
However, if you only apply a little, it is easily absorbed, makes a great make-up base and leaves your skin feeling soft, smooth, supple and moisturised.

In summary, it really helped to quickly moisturise and repair my dry skin after my holiday and, even though it is slightly more expensive than some brands, it does wonders for dry or flaky skin and lasts for ages.

Summary: A versatile product which is good value for money.
