Advantages: Deep cleanses & exfoliates.
Disadvantages: Not good for dry, sensitive skin.
Don' eat this, but it does smell absolutely delicious!
During the build up to the seasonal festivities my face was in desperate need of some TLC which it doesn't get too often, I rarely pamper, but on meeting up with a friend a few months ago, who agreed that a healthy, radiant skin tone was not apparant! I felt the need to rejuvenate my face!!
It's not a miracle worker, it won't get rid of the fast growing wrinkles etc but your face will feel oh so clean after using it!!
-The Packaging -
This is a beige tub with the familiar body shop logo on the lid and tub. Half of the sticker on the lid is green with Honey & oat 3-in-1 scrib mask, Normal/Dry skin. The other half, not surprisingly has a picture of oats and honey. The sticker on the tub itself is green with the name of the product, instructions for use and ingredients.
I much prefer tubs as opposed to squeezy tubes as you can always ensure that there isn't any waste at all.
- Cost in 2006 -
100ml tub ~ £6.50
The Body Shop often have 3 for 2 offers for facial products.
- Main ingredients -
So as not to bore you with the full list, here are the main ingredients and their functions:
Organic Honey ~ It moisturises and helps condition the skin.
Kaolin Clay ~ helps control shine. It deeply cleanses drawing out impurities from the skin. It also helps restore the skin's natural balance.
Glycerin ~ an effective moisturiser
Oatmeal ~ The natural texture of this makes it a great exfoliator and gently cleanses.
- My experience -
Upon opening the tub you can certainly smell the honey and oats. Don't be put off by the look of it, a bit 'gunky', a creamy colour with the texture of the oats.
It's very very easy to apply but you have to avoid the more sensitive areas like eyes and lips. You are supposed to cleanse before using it but I didn't, no time!!
It is suggested that you leave it on for 10 - 15 minutes, I left it for 10.
The tub says that the mask will remain moist.........it certainly isn't like some face masks that harden up so you just can't move your face but in my experience this product does not stay moist and does dry out so when it suggests that you massage your skin to exfoliate after the given time I always use a tiny bit of water to dampen it up again so that you can have a good old rub.
I was a bit wary the first time as the name 'scrub' suggests that it would be like rubbing your face with a brillo pad but unlike body exfoliators it really is gentle and soft.
To wash it off is a bit of a pain......you have to use warm water and I thought it would be as easy as the application process. Wrong! It sticks to your face so the best way of removing it is with a flannel so as to get a good grip on it.
I would also suggest that you don't do this if you aren't planning on washing your hair afterwards as I still have little bits of oat stuck to my hairline but perhaps that is my fault for applying it haphazardly.
The Body Shop boasts that this is a triple action product, smoothing and conditioning the skin and it certainly does do that. Although my face does feel a lot cleaner and smoother, the area around my nose does feel a bit too dry and I will be applying some moisturiser very shortly although it doesn't suggest that you do this.
I don't have sensitive or desperately dry skin and although this product is aimed at Normal / Dry skin I would suggest that dry skin sufferers leave it on for less time.
For best results use it once or twice a week..........maybe that's why my skin doesn't have a constant radiant glow as it gets this treatment once a month, if it's lucky!!
- Other Body Shop Scrubs -
If honey and oats aren't your cup of tea then you could perhaps try the following:
Blue Corn 3 in 1 deep cleansing scrub mask
Seaweed foaming facial scrub
Soy and Calendula gentle facial scrub
Tea Tree Oil face mask
Summary: A good remedy for facial skin that's in need of a deep cleanse.
