Advantages: skin feels wonderful (and so does the soul!), does what it says

Disadvantages: about AUD$50 for 30ml

Bear was working on something at the table in my room, and I was still lying in bed trying to get some more sleep, even though it was already 11:45am. I moved closer to the table, still under my blankets, and he held out his hand. I placed it on my left cheek.

"I like how your skin feels when it's clean," Bear said.

Blank look. "Uh, I just woke up. I haven't cleaned my face yet."

Blank look again, this time from Bear. "I mean, I like how it feels when you don't have anything on it." Like makeup, I suppose.

"Oh, right." Big smile on my face.

I have Clinique's Total Turnaround Visible Skin Renewer (CTTVSR) to thank. 5 years ago, I would not have imagined anyone telling me that. Let me explain.

I'm now 20. During my teenage days, I used to have quite a lot of breakouts, had oily skin, and had a mother who emphasized external beauty (especially face) a lot more than what you would expect. When adverts of new face creams were on TV, I used to think how I would be doomed to use anti-pimple products throughout my life, and I was determined to one day have normal skin, and be able to use drugstore brands (because my mom was a Shiseido user and so she bought me Shiseido products).

I know that Clinique isn't a drugstore brand, but hear me out anyway. I got my first sample of CTTVSR in one of those female magazines that my mother subscribed to. I washed my face at night, and not knowing what it really was, I used it without my moisturizer (I don't normally use a lot of it when I'm back in Malaysia, where it's hot & humid). After a few minutes, I think I accidentally brushed my hand over my cheek and I could not believe what I felt.

My cheek was so incredibly smooth. I went to my 9-year-old sister and said "Hey, look, touch this," and she said "It's so smooth!" and I grinned. That was a year ago.

A few months ago, a big department store here in Australia closed down and had a big sale. Without really thinking, the first store I headed to was Clinique. Without really thinking again, the only thing in my mind was CTTVSR. And that would be the start of my new-skin journey.

I must admit though, that over the years, my skin's condition has begun to improve ... I suppose my hormones are normalizing. Also probably due to the dryer weather over here compared to Malaysia, so my skin is less oily and less prone to breakouts.

I use it every night after my moisturizer just before I go to sleep. When I first got it, I used to like the texture so much that I wanted to use it night AND day. I later found out that it's not a good idea because what CTTVSR is, is really an exfoliator, so if i use it so often, I'd be overdoing it and harming my skin instead of doing any good. It's a bit creamy yet light enough and feels wonderful on the skin. For some reason, it looks like it's got a bit of shimmer in it too, so putting it on my face is like putting on a bit of glam factor onto my face!

And when I wake up, my face feels really smooth. I've got Bear to back that up! He doesn't know what's going on, of coures :) I have read the opinion that's up before mine, and I am actually quite surprised that it didn't work as well for her. Perhaps I should write a comment and suggest that she tried CTTVSR for oilier skins (yes, there's such a thing too!). According to the Clinique classification, I'm a type II (the most usual one) and the Turnaround Cream I'm using is suitable for type I (dry) and II (normal).

When I go to sleep, I know that I'm doing my skin a favour. It can feel a bit greasy if you've already got oily skin ... but the weather is very dry for me (I wake up with a dry throat sometimes!) so I guess that helps to minimize the greasy effect/feeling.

So when I wake up, I fe
el really good! Sometimes I feel like not washing my face and go to uni just like that because my skin feels so dewy ... but a good splash of cold water in the morning always wakes me up! :)

As with all Clinique products, this is fragrance-free. So no bonus there, if you like treating your olfactory senses!

I had the same experience! I really felt I was doomed to put toothpaste on my spots at night and plaster the foundation on in the morning, this is worth every penny. Good review and congratulations on the crown. :-)
