Advantages: leaves my lips soft
Disadvantages: the smell and the grease
I love lip balms and would buy lots if it wasn't for the fact that I am trying to not spend on pointless things. A little while back I pulled my jeans out of the washing machine and noticed that my tube of Lipsolve had got stuck in the rubber bit of the door so I was delighted that I had an excuse to buy a new one. I went into Boots and examined a few lip balms on the shelf and decided that I'd go for this one. The only reason for this was because I thought the tin looked really cute and it made a change from a tube.
What is it?
I think we all have heard of Vaseline haven't we? Well this is a small amount in a 20g tin that is specifically for lips. The tin is red and white and it claims to 'Soothe dry skin'. I paid around £1.50 which is a bit more expensive than the original flavour but it was worth it.
I walk everywhere come rain or shine so my lips can end up very dry and sore sometimes. I always carry some sort of lip product on me but find that some are more effective than others and some you need to apply every five second for my lips to stay half decent so I was really keen to start on this one when I bought it.
The tin was really easy to open and just popped off unlike the one I had from Lush a little while ago which seemed to take me hours to get in to. The Vaseline itself is pretty a nice pink in colour but it is also a little see through. It's quite shiny too. I rubbed my finger into the jelly and it came out pretty easily. When I applied it to my lips it went on well but felt very greasy and I had to remove some with the only thing I had handy which was my glove. I had obviously taken too much and the next time I applied I took much less. Again my lips felt greasy but it wasn't unbearable, infact I quite liked the feeling. The only thing I'm not so keen on is the slightly perfumed smell. My lips felt really soft and once the vaseline had finally dried in I could definately notice a difference in the softness of my lips. I also found that it lasted longer than other lip balms I have used in the past.
The two things that I don't particularly like about this product is the fact that you are left with a greasy finger after using it and I just end up having to wipe it in my coat or jumper. The other thing is that is goes really soft if you keep it in your pocket or close to heat. If I'm not concentrating on what I'm doing then my whole finger goes deep into the pot and I am left scraping off the excess on the side of the pot which can be a bit inconvenient if my son decides he needs a wee right there and then!
I am really happy with this product and like the fact that it lasts a long time on my lips and see a big difference in the way my lips feel. Yes it is greasy and some people may not like this feeling but it doesn't bother me and I will definately stick to this brand from now on as it's effective and affordable.
Summary: I like this but not as much as the original
