Advantages: Gorgeous packaging, well known & respected brand
Disadvantages: I'm too sensitive
I love Vaseline original, I don't like the Aloe Vera as I find the texture too sticky and the smell & taste too overwhelming.
I was delighted when I saw the rosy lips Vaseline advertised in Heat magazine before it was launched. It was agony waiting for it to be available in my local Boots, the launch seemed to be delayed and my friend managed to buy a bunch when visiting another town. Phew, Vaseline Rosy Lips in my sweaty, excited hand.
The pot was exactly as I had imagined, Vaseline have adopted a lovely retro styling on these products that has proved to be popular and I think they look cool.
My first disappointment is that it contains almond oil! I don't get on well with almonds, they make my mouth taste metallic. Not a good start to what I had imagined would be a happy & long relationship.
So I tried it.
I don't like it!
The smell is ok, the lurid pink colour is horrid in the pot and doesn't seem to last on your lips for long. It does seem to last longer on my fingers tho! The smell is quite delicate, a bit rose like, but more like the smell of the colouring! The texture is better than aloe vera, but it isn't as smooth and velvety as original. The moisturised feeling doesn't last for long and for the first time after using a Vaseline Lip Therapy product my lips ended up feeling dry and sore! Completely the wrong idea. Perhaps this was due to my own almond intolerance as all the reviews i've seen and feedback from friends say they haven't found a problem.
I'm gonna stick to the little blue pot!

- 17/08/09 I can't STAND Vaseline on my lips! I love nice lip balms and glosses but Vaseline always leaves me with kind of scurvy feeling lips for some reason! Great review. xx |
