Advantages: Cheap as chips, high quality, good packaging
Disadvantages: Coloured so just for the ladies
I have been a fan of Vaseline since my days playing rugby when we would put Vaseline on your legs to try and prevent bruises, and around the tape on your heads to stop your skin rubbing. Ok I have to admit that it didn't work for bruises but did protect your skin so for years I have not been without a tin of Vaseline lip balm.
When I saw the new pink tin from Vaseline and I had run out of my usual I quickly snapped this up!
Price
In these cash strapped times price is important - I paid 99p on a special offer in Asda - but have seen it up to £1.20 in Boots and Superdrug - still a bargain I have to say.
Stockists
Boots, Superdrug, local chemists and supermarkets of all brands seem to stock Vaseline products so you should be able to find it somewhere.
Packaging
This product comes in a handy sized 20g tin which will fit into any handbag. The lid fits well although if it gets dented can be hard to get off! Do make sure that you shut the tin properly as it is really annoying when all the dirt from your handbag gets into your lip balm.
What is different about the pink tin?
Well it is still petroleum jelly which will protect your lips from dryness and make them smooth and shiny, but it comes with rose and almond oil so has a lovely pink colour. This is a very subtle colour so you won't need to apply with a mirror.
Application
Put a bit on your finger and rub across lips - do check in a mirror that you haven't gone "outside the lines" as it is very easy to do. Your lips will appear shiny and moist but will look natural - not made up. Just a hint of pink, I find that I need to apply 3-4 times a day! But the best thing about this product is the fact that you can just rub a little on whenever you want to as it is such a convenient sized tin!
Scent
It is supposed to smell of roses and almond oil - I couldn't smell anything and that is fine with me!
Good for sensitive skin?
I have sensitive skin and have to be careful with some products and have never had a problem with Vaseline - a great product and free from nasty chemicals!
Conclusion - for 99p - £1.20 I really don't think that you can go wrong!
Summary: A great update on a classic product
