Advantages: Uses
Disadvantages: So Greasy
Before I begin, I'll mention that I love Vaseline and use it all the time and you are about to read a very detailed opinion on the stuff! I'd like to say that I love these little tubs of petroleum jelly because basically they are so handy and have literally SO many uses! Over the last year Vaseline has been promoted not only for its petroleum jelly but also for its many other products now available, also in many girly magazines adverts have been pursuading you all men and women to use the brand, they insist that their many products work and their petroleum jelly certainly does what I want it to! I have used Vaseline all my life, (All 14 yrs of it!!!) Ever since that day when my mum plonked the stuff on me when I was a little kid, she said whatever the problem, Vaseline was the cure, ok so maybe that isn't true but since those long gone days Vaseline has found many more uses apart from curing, here are a few of the most popular uses for the little tub of petroleum jelly... 1. The main thing that I use my little tub of Vaseline for is 'chapped lips' I very often used to find that I had sore, dry and chapped lips, this was usually due to many things, the hot weather, not wearing enough gloss and kissing to many cute lads! Then I discovered that you can use Vaseline on your lips, when my lips are extremely dry I wear this stuff as a light gloss or apply it and then add lippie or coloured gloss. Not only do I do this though, I also apply the stuff to my lips EVERY night after I have removed my make up and washed my teeth ~ since I have started doing this I find my lips are in a much better condition than what they ever were before! Many magazines over the last few months have recommended wearing Vaseline not only as a healthy gloss but for real fashionable lips, many stars use the stuff instead of make up branded lip-gloss, I highly recommend Vaseline on your lips, it helps a great deal. 2. Of course you ca
n use Vaseline on your skin elsewhere on your body, I often use Vaseline for annoying colds, the little red bit under my nose! Add a little of the jelly on your nose and below when you go to bed, you could also apply it during the day too but I personally find that this sometimes make your skin look a little greasy. This is sure to do the trick of not getting rid of the cold but the little red bit that makes your cold stand out! Of course, if you have dry skin Vaseline also comes in handy, add a little each night or morning, you could also top up during the day, another good cure Vaseline does is get rid of those embarrasing and ugly cold sores around the mouth, it works ~ trust me! As well as dry skin, cold sores and colds Vaseline is also handy for cuts, I have never actually done this but a friend of minre recommended it to me the other day and apparantly this works quite well too, making the cuts less painful and stingy and more clean and fresh instead, it helps the healing of the cut very well. 3. As I've got older I've learnt that bushy eyebrows aren't that great so a little pluck every now and then, keeping them in shape never goes a miss, especially if you use Vaseline whilst doing them, add a little to your brows before, during and after plucking them, this way the job is done quicker, easier and less painfully! If you're going for a big pluck then this also helps to get rid of the red marks left behind on your skin ~ I always do my eyebrows before I go to bed so the marks never get seen anyway! If you're not into plucking or waxing your eyebrows, or removing any hair at all, Vaseline will still keep bushy brows under control, I used to do this and it controls them well! 4. I was reading my sisters mag the other day when I noticed a 'handy make up tip' It said if you want long lashes, get a brow or lash comb and apply some vaseline, spread it evenly and brush through your lashes carefully, the
n add your normal mascara and your lashes will look long and very beautiful. I of course, tryed this and it works really well, if you do it right! Do this with care and you will get your long lashes, the only disadvantage I found is that if you often rub your eyes, your mascara will come off VERY easily due to the vaseline. 5. As well as all the simple things that you can use Vaseline jelly for, you can also mix the stuff with other substances to make even more uses! I mentioned lip gloss earlier, if you're not interested in that kind of gloss, why not try mixing some colourful gloss in with your jelly, your lips look so cool and they'll stay really healthy too! 6. I'm not a mother but do have a little sister and although she is now 6 when she was an cute ickle little baby, my mum always used vaseline for nappy rash, this too works really well, I'm told anyway! Add a little to your babys bottom one day, it should work wonders, it works wonders on everything else! You can also make eye gloss, I'm not a big fan of this stuff because it creases really easily on your eyes, but if you mix colour with the gloss you can get a really nice blend of colour on your eyes, or you can simply just apply your usual eyeshadow and then add vaseline for extra shine, usually for when going out to a party or something! So as well as chapped lips, sore skin and burns Vaseline is actually very, very handy for many things! I highly recommend you get a tub of this stuff, I highly recommend this to women especially, buy a small tub for 99p, you can keep it in small pockets or handbags really easily, they also last for ages too, if you would prefer to buy a small tub these are just over a pound and you can also get really big pots too! I couldn't live without my Vaseline! Cheers for reading, hope I've helped, ~M~ :0) UPDATED PART Thanks to dooyoo member 'millergirl' I have 1 more use for my Vaseline
and that is all to do with nosebleeds, if you experience nose bleeds, soften the skin with some vaseline gently 'shoved'up your nose! This should help your nose not to bleed as much! Cheers 'millergirl'!!! ~M~ :0)

funkyh - 15/03/03 very good all round summary. I didn't know that vaseline had so many uses - did you know that you shouldn't keep it for very long as germs and bacteria love the stuff! |
