Advantages: fresh feeling
Disadvantages: no VISIBLE differences
The product I?m reviewing is ?Virgin Vie Wide Awake Eye Gel? and I?ll shoot from the hip straight away: I really don?t think this works. I like Virgin Vie as a company, they usually make superb products, and have a great stance against animal testing. <www.virgin.com/cosmetics> ** THE CONCEPT ** I read a magazine review about this product. It said that it was a must-have for any morning routine. (I can?t help feeling that the reviewer might have been on Virgin?s payroll!) It promises to ?make you believe you?ve had a good nights sleep by saying goodbye to tired-looking, puffy eyes. The light hydrating gel will de-puff, de-stress and rehydrate the delicate skin around your eyes. Plant extracts stimulate circulation to help rid late night circles? It sounds super dooper. ** HOW TO USE IT ** To use the gel, you pat a pea sized amount around each eye. It then tones and refreshes your eyes to make them look sparkly and healthy. ** WHAT IT CONTAINS ** The box states: Arnica, butcher?s broom and horse chestnut extracts help soothe your skin and encourage the dispersion of excess fluids that can cause puffiness and the look of dark circles. There are a rather long list of ingredients, and although I would usually list them within my reviews I wont for this product. There doesn?t seem to be anything untoward within the list, and the product doesn?t irritate my sensitive skin, so I deem it safe enough! It is also unscented. **WHAT THE PACKAGE LOOKS LIKE ** Virgin Vie packaging is well designed, and generally looks very sophisticated. This is a plain grey cardboard box with the Virgin Logo. And the name ?Wide Awake ? Eye Gel? in small, but legible writing. In side there is a small clear tube with very little branding. The actual gel is also translucent. The tube is 15 ml. ** MY EXPERIENCE OF THIS GEL ** Well, its not all bad! Although I don?t think i
t does everything that it claims, the gel smoothes onto your skin very refreshingly. It?s quite cool to apply, and it feels very nice the ?morning after the night before? although I personally don?t SEE a difference, I do feel a bit fresher around the eyes if I apply the gel. So would I buy it again? No probably not. Because you can?t see the difference, it?s really not worth the money. If my eyes are tied, and I want to feel a difference, I can just soak two cotton wool balls in milk and lie down with them on my eyes. It?s more effective, and it doesn?t cost a tenner either! The eye gel is an unnecessary luxury, nice if someone buys it to you? but don?t rush out and get it yourself.
