Advantages: none

Disadvantages: cuts, friction burn, no close shave

I apologise beforehand for jumping into the mans world of razors.....
But I just had to share my disgust for what I term as almost the worst razor I have ever tried.
I periodically end up nicking my other half?s razors from his basket in the bathroom, and up till now I was satisfied with the effectiveness of the Gillette Mach3 he was using. (But that will be another op).

This time there was a newcomer lurking in the depths.
The usual brand that I buy for him was not in stock, so he ended up settling for Wilkinson Sword.
In a snazzy blue / yellow combination, the Wilkinson Sword Protection 3D Diamond razor (mouthful) looked rather professional.
Retailing at £2.38 for the razor plus two extra blades at most supermarkets and chemists, it seemed a reasonable price for what you were getting. Worth a try we thought.

What Wilkinson Sword Protection 3D Diamond razors offer:

*Alpha Diamond coated blades.
*3D Action.
*Ultra thin Protection wires.
*Protector stand for storage and travelling.
*Razor and two blades.

Once the packaging is dispensed with, the razor itself is a bright yellow, with a rubber-like easy-grip handle. Easy to hold and use.
Its protector stand is a clear Perspex-type plastic hood that tips back as you lift the razor. It also enables you to stand the razor on its handle, resting the neck on the hood.
The spare blades are housed in a little flip top box tucked into the back of the stand, allowing for disposal of substituted blades.

*Alpha diamond coated blades: This apparently makes them ultra tough and blunt-resistant. Ensuring a close and effective shave.
*3D action:
1D is the backward / forward swivel action of the head.
2D is the slight side-to-side motion of the blades themselves. Meant for careful contour areas.
3D is the description of the ultra-thin protector wires, ten in all. These supposedly prevent you slashing your face to ribbons.
They sit over the actual blades themselves in a vertical fashion.

The razor also has the standard lubra-strips to help reduce shaving burns and aid the razor glide over your face.

Right, once the general description is over and done with, I shall proceed to tell you exactly why I would never buy them again or recommend them to anyone.

Once my other half had emerged from the bathroom with blood and loo paper on his face in various places, I knew something wasn?t right. With Gillette Mach3 razors this has never happened. I have used them myself and really think they are the best ones on the market. He had shaved as usual; applying foam and off you go.
His verdict on them was that they are almost clumsy to use, not a flexible shave at all, and didn?t give him the confidence for a close shave. Also the ultra-thin protector wires had created a lot of friction burn. Never again he vowed.

A few days later I decided I needed a little less winter fur on my legs and spotted them. I applied shaving foam to my legs and struck out with the Wilkinson Sword razor. Halfway up my shins I thought that they weren?t all that bad, so carried on.

I was wrong.

Soon I was bleeding from several areas, and threw it back in disgust!

My verdict was similar to my other half?s one.
They suck!
I hadn?t achieved a close shave at all, I could still feel stubble, and I also had friction burn, plus loo paper stuck in strategic places.

Summary: a waste of money on a product that could actually be termed as dangerous, or at the least useless.
We will be sticking to Gillette?s Mach3 in future; even if Wilkinson comes up with a newer razor I would be loath to try it.
I will use own-brand disposables before Wilkinson Sword Protector3D Diamond.
