Advantages: Looks nice and suction cap was useful
Disadvantages: Doesnt shave well at all
Wilkinson Sword Quattto
I have been a mach 3 user for the past number of years. When I went to get new blades last week I could believe that the price has sky rocketed to £7 for a replacement pack. I took the immediate decision that I wouldn't pay such a high price and began looking for an alternative. I was drawn to the Wilkinson Sword Quattro for both the looks and the price. It was on offer for around three quid and came with a bright blue razor and one replacement head.
First impressions
Once home I decided to open the product and give it a try. I hadn't shaved in a day or too and whilst not overly bad it was starting to look a bit scruffy. The packaging for this product was extremely difficult to open by hand and in fact I gave up and resorted to scissors. Once I opened the pack I was pleased to find a suction cap was also included in the package which was an unexpected bonus. The razor itself was a bright blue colour and looked more expensive than it actually was. Whilst opening the box the razor blade came off but it was easily reattached.
The shave
This in my opinion is the most important job a razor blade has to do. Sadly however this is where Quattro falls flat on its face. The razor blade glided effortlessly and painlessly over the face and whilst it removed some stubble it did not remove nearly enough. The shave was patchy and despite going over the same area again it still failed to remove anywhere near as close as the mach three. I had hoped that four blades would have been better than three but compared to the mach three this shaver is absolute rubbish. On the plus side it did effectively remove my shaving foam.
I was so disappointed with this product and as it did such a poor job I resorted back to my old (blunt) mach three just to finish the shave. The old mach three did the job far better than the new Quattro.
Overall
I wouldn't consider giving this product another go. It does look nice and the free suction cap was a nice touch but it didn't do its main tasks well. Im am in my late twenties and shave every other day. My facial hair is not overly coarse so I would have expected a lot better results. I could see this product working on someone who is younger and new to shaving and who only has fine facial hair. The razor blade did seem very safe. I repeated a lot of shaving strokes and still didn't manage to cut myself at all.
So overall this product was a let down. I would maybe recommend this for someone who has very fine hair. I for one won't be buying this product again as I felt it was a waste of £3 which I wish now I had of just put towards new mach three blades.
Summary: This product was so poor I cant believe its been going for so long

- 19/08/09 I didnt find the quattro razors that good to be honest and prefer my sensor blades which do a far better job. |

- 19/08/09 They'd make a ten blade razor if they thought it wouldshift units. I use the Fusion, but tend to stock up on replacements heads when they are on sale. Nicely reviewed 8^) |
