Advantages: packaging, good performance, gives face an expensive look.

Disadvantages: Expensive, only a few shades

Touche Eclat is one of those products that everyone talks about, but it' so expensive it took me forever to buy one. Finally, I got in duty-free, justifying it because it was a few pounds cheaper....YSL promises 'that it is ultra light, fine and impalable, and literally becomes one with the skin'

Avaliability - Made by prestigious makeup company YSL, and distributed through their makeup counters, which are found at most large department stores. Can also be brought widely over the internet.

Packaging - I adore how this is packaged! It is sold in a little gold box with the YSL logo on, and the pen itself is gold color, with 'yves saint laurent' written on the side in black writing. VERY classy & iconic packaging, that looks great in your makeup bag.
Also includes a paper leaflet detailing how to use Touche Eclat, and how to care for it.

Colors - comes in shades for fair, medium, tanned and ethnic skin. (I have the one for fair skin) YSL claims that one of these shades will fit, no matter what your skintone, but I'm not sure this is the case.

Cost - depends where you buy it from. Lots of sites on the net (Island cosmetics, cheap smells) sell it for around the £15 mark, but it rrps at just over twenty.

Performance - YSL claim touche eclat can be used on dark undereye circles, to make lips look plumper and more contoured, and generally as a highlighter. You use it by clicking the end a few times, which brings the liquid up into the fine brush, and then use the brush to apply. The brush on the end is very good quality. When I use it on undereye shadows, I use a high-intensity cream concealer first, to get rid of the worst of it. Then I use touche eclat on top, which gives eyes a very fresh, open look - if you just use it straight over very dark shadows, it isn't very effective.
I also use it on my cheekbones & around my mouth - over the top of foundation.Overall, it is very light, and makes your face look very fresh and glowy. I wouldn't reccomend using it over blemishes or spots, as it seems to make them look worse - stick to a regualar concealer in these places.
It's not too heavy and obvious, but just finishes your makeup of to perfection. Also, as you only need to use a little bit, it lasts a long time, which is a good thing considering the price.

Other notes - this product is so iconic that YSL have created its own website -www.touche-eclat.com. This is very useful - it has a video showing how to apply, and tips for using.

Summary: A must-have beauty buy.
